Yeah I ordered some snus a while back and they didn't have it in stock. But they did give me my choice of any snus in the shop at no extra charge.

I can tell you from recent personal experiance that you cannot believe if the item says that it is in stock....that it really is. Apparenty they aren't up dating that now. I was waiting for an order from them and it was a long time and it still said pending. I contacted them and they replied that one of the items is out of stock [while it still says that it is in stock] and it would be some time before they ship the order. Thanks for the update.....geez.........

So today I received 2 rolls of snus in separate packages and this is what the procedure would appear to be for shipping snus to the UK via Northerner.

They take your order & money.

They wait until they have the snus closest to the expiration date available (26th October in my case)

They use Swedish post to post your package to the US warehouse from the Swedish warehouse.

The US warehouse ums and ahs a bit and then takes your rolls out and sticks 2 US specific health warning labels on every single can. This is despite the fact that this snus is never going to be consumed in the US.

They put the snus back in the same packages but the roll is now all split up.

The US warehouse uses the cheapest possible USPS service to send to the UK.
Yeah I'm waiting on a Northerner order of just 5 cans myself that I placed a couple of weeks ago. That is an ass backwards way of sending you your package.

But what I don't get is, I thought that due to the PACT Act in the U.S. that tobacco could no longer be sent via USPS??

How bizarre. I remember when I've received snus from the US warehouse in the past their US Airmail pre-pay sticker mentioned their Swedish HQ but I never got anything with both a USPS and Swedish Post Airmail sticker on it.

There's a lot of ways the process could be streamlined. I question having a US warehouse anyway. It might be nice to keep to have an extra card to play, but I'd look into Russia, or other eastern countries for EU snus. It's closer, and from over here, it seems like less regulatory hassle.

Now I can see why that would take about a month. However - I don't see how all of that is strictly necessary. I know they are using the double postage method because there are both post marks on the package. But surely they don't need to dismantle each and every EU order in the US warehouse because labels stating that "WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CAN CAUSE GUM DISEASE AND TOOTH LOSS" or some such thing is not a legal requirement outside the US. They could just have our addresses under a peel-off label and toss them straight in the post the moment they arrive at the US warehouse without thinking about it. Also - if they are going to be sending a lot of stuff to the EU from the US then SURELY it makes more sense to stock the items AT the US warehouse rather than send each order as a special from Sweden for EVERY ROLL!

I am grateful at the opportunity to buy it at all - of course I am ... but this procedure delivers pretty much out of date snus that has been unrefrigerated for a month or so. And it must cost them so much because it is probably the most inefficient system I could possibly think of.

    Cheers

    Squeezy

People get fair warning, and they were off the hook for complaints. Snus brands disappear with none, to little warning so people can stock up. It used to be that way. I remember Northerner coming onto snuson right before some law was to take place and warning everybody that they would not be allowed to use their points towards merchandise with tobacco logo's on it in the near future. I believe quite a few members cashed in their points for Ice Tools then. I also remember Fredrik being here to personally take care of any issues that came up. The Good Old Days!

Sorry - I got my months mixed up. Oops!

Maybe I should give them a little longer before I shoot my mouth off in this fashion. I will be saying this in a months time if the situation hasn't improved by then though.

Doesn't make me much more optimistic though. But I'd like to retract the allegation that they're probably going under.
