I'm flavor loyal. I will pay whatever the price is for the flavor I like. I just wish I had a list of what will not be available after PACT so I could make a last minute stockpile order of my favs.
Brand loyalty?

I originally though of my stash as a one time deal. But I think now that it will be the beginning of a permanent stash.Originally posted by olderthandirt View Post2 years from now when my PACT stash has been depleted I'll consider what's available at that time.
I'll probably let stock levels fall down a bit over the next couple years, but I don't think the risk to our snus stops on 29 June.

Um, yeah, it's a business. Unless they care about the money, we'll have to start referring to it in the past tense.Originally posted by whalen View PostIt does not matter, Frederik, I will not ever buy from you again. I copied one of lxskllr's posts to a blog post. I think this is still pretty current.

I would have ordered Rothbrix/Phantom los (Classic or Brown) if it had been stocked in the US warehouse.
So no I am not brand loyal but if you want people to switch to a less expensive brand then you have to stock it.
I ended up getting 4 rolls of Ettan los instead.

I'm brand loyal to a limited extant. I have my favourites, and I'd probably bounce between them for variety/savings, but there's a line I just won't cross. For example, I refuse to buy Knox or Granit any more. I've tried them, and I can't stand them. Sadly, don't think I saw any of my favourites in the B&M roll out list.

I'll answer if you promise not to call me a retard, even with your hat off. I'm sensitive!
Considering that my brand Y would be General and my brand X would probably be LD or maybe Granit (and at least LD probably *won't* be available), I seem to be in pretty good shape. But to satisfy your hypothetical requirements, I'd pay the extra. Some may find LD or Granit acceptable substitutes for General (or even better), but not I.Originally posted by Fredrik_Northerner View PostWith PACT just around the corner I'm a little curious on how brand loyal people are. If we disregard that many of you may have a few 100 cans of your fav snus in your freezer by now, what are your thoughts?
Scenario 1)
If Brand X will cost you $3 USD per can including shipping and taxes and Brand Y (which also happens to be your fav brand) will cost $4 USD. For arguments sake, let's say that both Brand X and Brand Y are the same flavor, format and strength and that your favorite brand (Y) tastes a tad better in your opinion.
Would you bite the bullet and pay a little more or would you switch?
(I also like Gotlands and Jakobssons very well, and I can't think of anything that would even come close to a substitute for them.)
Really, though, I'm a snus-arounder; I like all kinds of snus. So when the smoke clears I'll just pick from whatever's still available, the same as I've always done.
Again, no worries there, but if I somehow couldn't get General (or other Swedish Match favorites: Ettan, Grov, and Röda Lacket) or Gotlandssnus/Jakobssons, I'd try something else (I can't imagine what that would be). I'm not ready to quit yet. I just put the cigarette monkey down a few months ago, and unlike spirit72, snuff is not going to work for me as a substitute.Scenario 2)
Your fav brand won't be available at all post-Pact. What are your thoughts. Quit snus all together or try and find a substitue (I guess most of you know what brands will be available in the US)?

somehow I think the difference is going to be that it's not $3.00 and $4.00...it's going to be more and a larger difference to boot. This is the problem with what works in theory might not work in practice.
I think the first thing that most of us would do is pare down our buying. If the primary brand goes up then there's less money left to try other snus. Eventually more people will be buying less snus. People would be less apt to explore different snus if they're loyal. You've got the data on Swedish users. I'd be curious to know those stats. I'm sure there are other factors such as cultural, diet, environment, etc. but we're talking about addictions here. To some degree people are people. I remember reading once that worldwide, the three most brand loyal products were Cigarettes, Toothpaste, and Mayonnaise.
I switched dip brands after a couple years from skoal to grizzly. they were both $3.25. Then grizzly went up to $3.55 and Skoal went up to $6.95. Big difference. If it were only a dollar more I suspect I wouldn't change. I didn't believe that the product in the can was twice as good. Period. It's also always a problem with prices go up and you don't get anything more in return. Especially now...many people are going to pay more for snus. The same snus. and 100% of that money is going to taxes. I, like many Americans, have a hard time swallowing that.
I'd suspect some of us would leave snus for dip again. Some would go back to smoking. Some would just roll with it (I think most would) but another difference is what snus is involved. Knox vs Skruf is one thing, but Offroad vs Ettan is not even comparable, IMO.
