    Brand loyalty?

With PACT just around the corner I'm a little curious on how brand loyal people are. If we disregard that many of you may have a few 100 cans of your fav snus in your freezer by now, what are your thoughts?

    Scenario 1)
If Brand X will cost you $3 USD per can including shipping and taxes and Brand Y (which also happens to be your fav brand) will cost $4 USD. For arguments sake, let's say that both Brand X and Brand Y are the same flavor, format and strength and that your favorite brand (Y) tastes a tad better in your opinion.

Would you bite the bullet and pay a little more or would you switch?

    Scenario 2)
Your fav brand won't be available at all post-Pact. What are your thoughts. Quit snus all together or try and find a substitue (I guess most of you know what brands will be available in the US)?

Scenario 1: I am very brand loyal. I almost exclusively snus thunder frosted. If thunder frosted costs 1$ more per tin than any other snus, I would pay the extra dollar every time.

Scenario2: rofl at the suggestion that anyones gonna quit cause their fav flavors aren't available. If they stopped selling Marlboro 27's would people quit smoking? Lol. I ain't going anywhere, if the last brand standing is some crappy snus like general mini mint, I will snus that before quitting.

      I use 85% Gotlands products, 10% v2 and 5% Taboca.

I will pay for the Gotlands/Jakobsson's and v2.

I am going to miss Taboca when I run out.

Luckily, I use mostly Swedish Match. I can pretty much interchange General Loose, Ettan Loose, and Grov Loose. So if one of those is less expensive than the others, I'll probably pick the least expensive. However, I will probably always order General ES Loose and Oden's ES Kanel Loose no matter what the price as long as I can still get them.

          1. I would pay a little more for Brand Y, though I might buy a little less of it and substitute more of the cheaper brand. I like having one main brand that I stick to on a regular basis, with others thrown in occasionally for variety. Right now, I'm fairly loyal to General as my main brand, but a big part of the reason for that is that it is now the one brand I can buy locally. I love the taste of General, but if I could pop into a local store and by Grovsnus or Ettan instead, one of those might become my main brand. I like the convenience of being able to buy locally--ordering online from Northerner is great, but I don't like to rely on it entirely as I get concerned that I might forget to reorder in time and run out--so I'm wishing Northerner all the best in its U.S. distribution efforts. Northerner might also consider some sort of automatic reordering system--i.e., where you can sign up to get your favorite brand shipped to you automatically every few weeks. I used to get pipe tobacco by mail order from a tobacconist that had that system, and now I get vitamin shipments the same way.

          2. If my favorite brand weren't available post-PACT, I could find a substitute pretty easily (assuming there were still other "classic" flavors available--not just fruity, non-tobacco-y flavors). Probably the only reason I'd quit snus altogether is if (God forbid) wintergreen was the only available flavor.

I would pay a premium for a fav, but would seek an alternative if my fav were lost.

I'm generally brand loyal, but I switch around anyway. My favorite is Gotland Gul. I switch with LD which I also enjoy very much, but not as much as Gotland. It keeps things fresh going back and forth, and assuming both were always available, I would still use them in the same ratio. It appears that the LD in my freezer will be the last I'm able to get. There isn't really any other bergamot snus I'm able to switch with(that I consider an acceptable adjunct), so I'll pay for Gotland regardless of price.

              Edit:
I guess I didn't completely answer the question. If Gotland became unavailable, I'd wouldn't be quitting snus, but I would do what I could to get snus I wanted. I could conceivably use LD in place of Gotland, but with both gone, I'd give serious thought to serious smuggling. Use General until I got enough money together to do it right.

I have just about every brand in my freezer. Some things discontinued or not being sold in the US anymore I like, but I shall live.

If something that is expensive has a cheaper alternative that tastes the same I'll purchase that. Otherwise I will buy the more expensive alternative.

My top 5 are none negotiable. I would pay a premium for any of them. The rest of my favorites are so interchangeable that I can/do switch them up enough I will almost always be able to find a snus I can live with.

A few I will not compromise on (Thunder WG), but a few I already have (Thunder frosted to Offroad frosted; almost 14 dollars cheaper for a roll).

give me OffRoad coffe/vanilla or give me death.

believe me, I have tried very hard to find another brand/flavor that I could use. I have tried northerners complete selection. I even revisited a few just in hopes that I could find a second best for me. The only other snus than the coffe/vanilla that I can stomach is Nick & johnny strong and black, Skruf cranberry, Northerner brand wintergreen. However as long as I can fanagle Patrik at V2 to put out a limited edition coffe/vanilla every year or so I'll be fine. If he objects then I'm stuck buying a full run. I'll buy it all damit.....if I have to. And then I'll have to put some on the exchange for a few of my friends that also like it. Maybe. Nothing satisifies me like the coffe/vanilla in all areas of appreciation.

BTW, when trying to convert female smokers to sus I highly recommend offering the gal a Northerner brand Wintergreen. its a mini that has a sweet flavor and very little tobacco flavor. It seems to me that someone that has never used smokeless tobacco is looking for a flavor otherr than tobacco. Which can turn a new user off.....especially a gal. Now if you could make a coffe/vanilla in a mini I bet that would go over quite well also with the gals.
                      Hint Hint......... Fred/Frank
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Im a little off topic here bit I'm glad you vouched for thunder frosted, considering I baught 12 cans of the stuff for my pact stash without even tryin it lol, Im a Newbie in my second week of snusification. Ordered about 35 cans I think. Bottom line I hope I like the thunder frosted as much as you do. I like general mint reg portion so I figured I'd like thunder.

I'm not brand loyal at all. I'm more flavor loyal.

OK, but I wouldn't disregard that. I think if you worked with the manufacturers to bring a stream of new products like limited edition flavors, etc, to the market you could still interest us hoarders.

                            Scenario 1)

I would buy the flavor I like the most. This is going to be in my mouth for an hour - I should enjoy it. Moreover, I am still saving so much money versus smoking that money is not a factor in this choice. But the brand isn't really a factor. What would be a factor, to me, that might be considered a brand differentiator is the can. I'm a sucker for metal cans (#2) and catch lids (#1). If I had a choice between a snus that I like that had a nice can with a catch lid and one that I like a bit more, but has a discount can - I'd lean towards the nicer can. (I know this doesn't make sense - I have dozens of empty cans saved up, but still...)

                            Scenario 2)

I'd do option #3 and try to duplicate it with SnusX. Failing that I'd move on to something similar if I could find it.

                            Really, post-PACT I intend to stick mostly with;

                            1. SnusX,
                            2. Oomph,
                            3. General Mint

Although - If you get some more limited editions out there I will buy them, consistently, and hoard a roll or two if I like them.

Let me know if you get to this point. Maybe I'll buy a fractional share of your run.

My long-term plan with coffee/vanilla is using 1 can of real coffee/vanilla after each 2 cans of SnusX coffee/vanilla.
