Here's why 'baccy taxes are important: http://www.usdebtclock.org/. Unfortunately, I stashed enough that it's gonna be a long time before I can help make a dent.

These are additional tobacco taxes per given state in the chart, NOT the normal state tax.

    Welcome aboard, Finland.

I doubt you need to worry about this. Gifts are generally not considered taxable.

NY just raised cig taxes by 1.60 and on August 1st smokeless taxes will be raised from 46% of wholesale to 75% of wholesale. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah. I live in Mass. I got tired of paying over 8 bucks for a pack of smokes. I go to the US Virgin Islands every winter...2 bucks a pack there.

I think it was at a pretty good rate, then they recently (?) added a surcharge to pay for rural doctors.

First time I don't mind living in Alabama. At .9 ounces per can, what do that come to? Almost nothing? I can live with that.

Several Missouri legislatures want to make it worse for us, but the folks representing rural "Missurah" fight it every time.

Something tells me that they will find some way to round up the wholesale price rather than charge tax on the real wholesale price. Most distributors don't want you to know what their wholesale price is and my guess is the states will look the other way if the taxes work out in their favor. I would probably figure about 3 to 4 bucks a can as being wholesale to be on the safe side but I hope I am wrong about that.

Does anyone know what the wholesale price is? If not I guess we will find out when we see what the state tax works out to be.
