Toque Champagne Loose for $1000 please Alex.....

Much like a few others I would say keep it simple and go with great Toque flavors. One thing you could do though would be using a portion can put loose in the main tin and snuff in the 'ashtray'. Combo complimentry flavors. Cherry Snus + Coke Snuff for example.

A nicotine junky travel pack would free up some pocket space...

I would have to agree with the idea of a compartment that holds papers that can be used to make your own portions (such as a coffee filter material).

In order to get around it having to be food quality, you could simply imply people could use the papers to put the used snus in so they could dispose of it properly (whereas it would be specifically implied by the veterans that the papers are there to make your own portions if desired).

I don't think I would want to make my own snus but I wouldn't mind just getting the paper.
They're currently not accepting any orders.

800 grams for 34.25 shipped is not a bad deal. You have to think, that's equal to almost 18 cans of los and 33 cans of portions.

I think you misunderstood. The paper doesn't come with the kit.

They suggest using something called Tork paper which is used in Europe in the centerfeed handtowel dispensers. They picked Tork paper because of it's quality and it's availability in Sweden. You have to get your own paper, cut it to size and fold according to the instructions. I don't know about the availability of Tork (or an equivalent) outside of Sweden.

A lurker finally shows his face.

Interesting thread for me as I love the idea of loose. But for various reason it wasn’t working for me until I found the tea bag method. I use Lipton tea bags (inexpensive), empty out the tea, cut it so it lays flat, and I can cut it to eight pieces for portions. Less if you like bigger portions.

I think the idea of self sealing bags is not really needed. I have yet to have one fall apart on me. I make a pris first with an icetool, then just kind of rap it up as best I can and pop it in. No problems. I do press it together just slightly and the juice in the snus seals it well enough. If you really wanted to get fancy you could do a seal on three sides with a flap. I very much doubt there would be a problem with snus getting out.

I do tend to leave the potion in one place.

It would be great if you came out with something like this. Ether just flat sheets of tea bag materiel or a bag with a flap on one side. As is I’m throwing away a lot of tea.

Question here: Isn't nasal snuff allowed in EU?? If so, couldn't a moist NASAL snuff be created that could be used as snus?? My Maccoboy snuff made me think of this..it's pretty moist and almost 'dip' consistency.

My only thought on this would be a workable folding design, and I think most people wouldn't care for having to fold a pouch around their snus.

the basic idea is the envelope design where you have an open pouch with one side that folded over the snus and tucked itself in.

maybe an open pouch with a needle and thread ops:  well, those are my ideas, not very good ones, but they're mine.

ooooh, Elwin that vikingsnus site is a great idea!

just make a modified ashtray / pris tray, instead of a circle, make it a square or rectangle to hold the papers. Brilliant!

do you remember those sandwich bags- the poor man's ziploc? It had a flap that you folded backwards over the opening to seal it. Would that work?

I think that might be a little difficult to manipulate in snus portion size. For a DIY snus pouch, I like the link that got posted before by Justintempler? The one where you just fold it up. I used to roll my own cigarettes, so maybe I'm not the typical consumer, but it's elegant, and easy once you've had practice. Sometimes it's hard to beat simplicity :^)

I would love to find some snus "papers". I would only buy los for sure then and roll my own at work. Think of how much further a can would go

I might try a teabag tonight just for kicks.

                            My first thoguhts:

Go ahead and sell your loose and portion etc snus exactly as you do and as usual

separately sell super cheap "DIY portion kits" that consist simply of plain large square/retangled sheets of the portion paper you're already using (or places like swedish match us)

include in this kit a sort of a lip balm/lip gloss shaped gummy glue stick (or several as needed etc) and use something like self stick or lickable stamps glue (not so sure about exactly what type of glueing sticky stuff to use here)

but the other reason I say sell a separate super cheap maybe bulk paper and fastening system is because

                            1. this won't require you to complicate or dramatically change your whole packaging/selling system from that of others (wont' cost you a ton to redo all your snus packing machinary and make new cans etc) and thus keeps you competitive the same in that respect with everybody else

                            2. If people are going to the trouble to DIY portions aside from trying to save themselves a buck you are going to find people wanting to make mini portions, regular, custom sized, etc and beyond (which may be a reason for wanting to do it in the first place)

I may not know whast the EU/patent thing is, but maybe this hits the mark anyway hopefully, helps those of us trying to save a buck and

Maybe your EU friends can buy their los and package it up at home

sell something like notebook sized (whatever it is 8x11") in packs of 24 50 sheets etc, the glue stick (or other simple lightweight closure option)

Another reason I feel this would hit most of your target customers is because I beleive one of the reasons most people who are wanting to make portions from loose are is due to mess avoidance... I'd rather have the disposability.. if I don't want to get tobacco brown fingers and teeth from having snus flying all over on trying to remove a loose snus, then I'm certainly not going to want to try to re-use a snus portion (which would require same sort of digging used snus out of a used portion etc)

I haven't read through the whole discussion but what comes to mind for me would be normal portions with one end open and replace the snus tray lids with a little crimper or perforator to seal the end. Or you could go the opposite and just have sealed portions with a little cutter/opener in the lid.
