You may try food grade PEEK tape. I imagine you can find this in
double-sided which could be die cut so one could seal the end of
the portion tube from the inside so only the portion material is
          in contact with the lip/gum.

          Here's one possible source:

To make a set up for DYS portions would be so easy (like the heat seal storage bags for food). You buy rolls of snus bags, available in 3 different sizes (mini, regular, maxi). They tear off like sandwich baggies. Fill them with the portion scoop and stick the open end under the heated press (the thing could run off batteries and be no bigger than a stapler.

Snus companies will never promote it because they know it would wipe out their portions market. One $19.95 machine and a $5.00 roll of papers would pay for it self with the money you would save from just one roll of los made into portions (verses simply buying a roll of portions).

However, Roderick on the other hand, would make a killing and would possibly facilitate a duel use of his snuff line (oral and nasal).

And you know there are companies that do nothing but take your idea and put it into a design model for production.

And last I heard, Sage needs a job. So there's your sales staff all ugly and right there

Is this hypothetical or where do we get these? I just ordered a hundred of the heat sealable tea bags for $5. Where can i find a heat sealer for $20? I was planing on trying it out with my soldering gun.

...and 1 45g can of los would make about 4 1/2 cans of minis.

I think a standard iron would work.

It would really have to be cost effective for me be able to use something like a DIY kit. I am a portions only guy with the amount of time that I am in school and at work, and it would take too much time to make my own portions. I might buy a can or two for the novelty or flavor, but as a regular thing, I just don't see myself doing something like that.

but I just want to have the very tea bag material without having it made into tea bags first -- it would have to be more cost effective if I could just buy the material plus it would remove all the screwing around with tea/disassembling the teabag steps

I don't mind making my own portions -- but I'd love to at least be able to cut out the having to tear something else down first parts out plus actually save money by not buying something I don't want (the tea or tea bag shapes that will force me to waste what I have to cut off)

all I can find so far are mass producing places that apparently don't sell the the public
I've been using Lipton tea bags, $2.98 for 100 bags at wally world, which work very well. I cut each bag into 8 sheets. That's 800 portions per box.

But I agree with you. Just give me pre-cut sheets in different sizes. There is no need for self sealing bags, as I've never had a problem with them falling apart. Use the ice tool to measure it, 1 click for a mini, 2 for a regular. Takes about as much time to do as a RYO cigarette.

Well, you would have to sit and do it, but people do it with cigs. Maybe some of the los that people like, but don't like in the portions, might be better/different if self made? Would Offroad Original loose in a PYO tea bag differ from the same ready made pouches? I don't know.

For me I like sweet snus and I am interested in strong mini portions so I can't really get that commercially except for maybe Discreet but I can't really handle the saccharin they use. If I buy a can of Oden's stark los I think I can make them for about $1 per can which is still half the price of Discreet.

Are you sure about Discreet and saccharin?
