They are not a joint venture. They are competitors of each other.

Maybe you're confusing buysnus.com with buysnus.org? Just like swedishsnus.com and swedish-snus.com are two different companies.

Northerner has lots of names registered that are very similar to their competition

I know this won't apply to all of Canada but the tobacco I grew this year was DelGold a variety that was developed and grown commercially in the province of Ontario.
If you can grow your own it sure beats $18 a can.

I just got nailed the same way. 2 packages, with exactly identical contents, charged wildly different duties and tax. This happened 2 separate times in this last week and is frustrating beyond belief.

                  Package 1: 5 General Mint - $40.75 tax
                  Package 2: 5 General Mint - $67.86 tax

                  Package 3: 5 Jak's Wintergreen - $42.48 tax
                  Package 4: 5 Jak's Wintergreen - $67.88 tax

Even more retarded is that the Jak's Wintergreen is 5x20g = 100g/package, and the General Mint is 5x24g = 120g/package, we get charged by the gram yet the heavier package is charged less!

I think that my packages come through the Montreal port (Box 20 on the Import Form has the (Mtl) phone number). The packages that were overcharged were both done by BADGE NUMBER 17693 in box 17. This could be a coincidence, or maybe this CBSA employee doesn't understand the applicable taxes/duty on tobacco.

If you still have your Import Forms could you please check to see if the same Badge Number assessed your $49 package?

Talk about averaging fees. Damned, you Canadians have really
advanced math going for (or is it against) you.

Let's hope there's a language barrier between your customs and
US customs; we've got more than enough problems already!!

I shouldn't even be reading this forum because it's just stressing me out. I've got a roll of BlÄ coming in the mail. That's 10 rolls x 45 grams each for a grand total of 450 grams of pure taxation.

Sadly, part of me loves the thrill of this game.

It's like gambling, except you can only lose. The question is how much you'll lose :^D

I know what you're saying, the anticipation is kind of like going to the casino. It really sucks to get burnt though, especially when the assessment is more than what you actually owe.

By my calculations for 10x45g at about $40 Value you could be on the hook for about $100. I just paid that for a roll of portions, so don't feel so bad!

Expired general mini on Northerner? ... Never seen that before on sale.

How come you didn't pay any taxes because they were expired??

I wonder if it's legal to sell expired snus. :-??

I have no idea why I didn't pay duty was ready to pay about $150 tax and duty but the let me off this time , no idea if it is becuase the snus was expired or you get taxed 5 times and get 1 free I don't know it's all a gamble , think I may try out a roll of the expired mixed brand snus now but I now have 40 cans in the freezer and 10 open in the fridge .
