I have a freezer/fridge thermometer. It's a 0 degrees F
I was messing with you. Now I feel bad. 0 Kelvin (absolute zero) is cold beyond belief (-273 C or -459 F). It is more or less the complete absence of heat. So cold that molecular oscillation (entropy) is slowed as far as it can be. We've never cooled anything to absolute zero and it is generally accepted that we cannot ever achieve this.
0 degrees F is, IMO, optimal for a consumer freezer and should work great for storing your snus.

I figured that. I wasn't hip to the technical stuff behind it but I knew you were
messing with me.
A friend at work gave me a can of Camel SNUS she got as a freebie. It was awful! That night I did some looking online, and found real snus. That can of Camel Mellow (less one portion) is floating around the back of my fridge somewhere lost, and good riddance. I placed an order for a variety of snus, mostly just for times when it wasn't practical to smoke as I work with my hands and smoke breaks were cutting my productivity. I'm on a weird pay setup that's like piece work- the more I produce, the more I earn. Switching to snus = no more smoke breaks = pay raise for me, yay! I also found this forum and am reading everything I can- the reviews here are very helpful to us newbies.
Three days in, I realized the Sage One is correct. The snus always wins. I put down a 20+ year, 2-3 pack a day menthol non-filter RYO habit, with NO effort. I didn't set out to quit smoking. I had tried every way in the world to quit before, and they all ended in disaster. I had resigned myself to being tied to the cigs until the day I died, and after what I went through before trying to quit I wasn't even considering making the effort. I just find that, well... the snus won! If I craved a cig, I'd go smoke one, but the cravings just aren't there anymore. I still have a pack of RYO in the bottom of my work bag just in case, but it's probably dry as dust by now. I thought a heavy smoker like me would need massive nic replacement, but I find the 8mg work just fine throughout the day. I start the day with my good friend Thunder Frosted and a cup-o-Joe (my other good friend), then the rest of the day the 8mg keep me nice and level. I have some cans of RYO left, and at first it was sad thinking what a waste it was buying those, but now when I look at them I get this amazing sense of satisfaction, and a wicked evil grin!
'Nuff rambling; now to my question. I've read all I can here about proper snus can storage, fridge/freezer, etc. Since my go-to as a smoker was menthol, I ordered a SnusX Menthol make your own set. I love it, as it's like three in one- mixed with flavor, a menthol snus; moistened and chilled- a regular portion; dry as-is from the bucket- a white portion. By making one can at a time, I'm not stuck with a bucket of one flavor to get bored with, and I can change it up as my tastes change and play with different flavors. I've ordered a couple of these to keep on hand, and I'm not sure how to store them properly. The best by date is March 2012, is that at room temperature? The tub doesn't have much of a seal to it, just a plastic lid like a margarine tub, no plastic wrap or other seal. I'd like to freeze them, since it will take me a while to go through an entire tub. If I just put the tub into the freezer, won't they get freezer burned? Should I wrap the tub in plastic wrap and put it in a freezer bag? Since they're dry, should I just pour them into a freezer bag, seal that in another freezer bag, and toss them into the freezer until I need them? I'm afraid to just set them in a cabinet and leave them, that would seem like snus abuse.
Thanks for any and all advice, and this very informative forum. I can breath freely for the first time in years! Now if I could just work up the nerve to try that can of loose from the sampler...... It's in my fridge, dead center top shelf, staring at me, mocking me...............
I would repackage the portions into smaller freezer bags. 24-48 portions to a small freezer bag, inside a larger gallon size freezer bag.
That way when you want to make a can or two you don't have to thaw out the whole batch just grab one of the smaller bags.

Yeah, I have several buckets stored and this is exactly what I do.
I take the snack-sized bags (1/2 of the sandwich size) and put 24 portions in that. Then I remove the air.
I then take all of these (17-20 in a bucket) then I put them all into a gallon freezer bag.
Then I seal those back into the bucket and freeze them in the bottom of my my chest freezer.
I do a checkerboard with gallon jugs of water:
xoxoxox
oxoxoxo
x=SnusX
o=gallon of water
So if I lose power they stay froze longer.
This is probably overkill. As I understand, these are good for 2 years in a "cool dry place" since they are completely dry.

I tend to agree. Since they are completely dry, they probably don't need to be kept in the freezer or fridge at all. But it's best to err on the side of caution, so I've got my (single) SnusX bucket in the freezer. I'll probably get one or two more, at least, and I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them. I'm running out of freezer space. Maybe they'll just go in the fridge.
Thanks for the advice, and the kind words. I feel like I have a new lease on life w/o the cigs. You're right, I'm going to put the SnusX into small bags, and then all into a gallon bag and freeze it. It'll take up less room that way too. They might be OK left out to the best by date, but I just don't trust that lid since I'm in a high humidity area. One of the buckets should last me a few months, and I still have other cans I ordered to try out, and some more I'd like to order. And some others I'd like to order, too....
I've been smoke free for 48 hours with the General's help and have a quick question. I've been keeping all my newly purchased snus in the fridge as reccomended. What I do though is take a can with me to work then when I return place it back in the fridge. A can could last a couple days. Could the heating/cooling/heating/cooling have any bad effects? I thought about just carrying what I'll use but I can't predict if I'll have a good work day or bad where that extra portion makes the difference. I work in air conditioning all day so if that helps.
Don't worry about it. It's made to be used and that includes some time out of the fridge.
It's good to store in in the fridge, but you don't really even have to put it back into the fridge at night if you only are using one can - since it's only going to be open for what? 3-4 days maybe a week?
Hello, I just started an experiment in which I use two Identical cans of Los weight Swedish Snus in different environments to determine which storage...
