"Longterm" is pretty vague. We talking 6 months? 2 years? From what I've seen people say, portions will still be good for up to, if not over, 6 months to a year from expiration if kept frozen. Of course, this probably varies brand-to-brand due to slight differences in production methods.

I used freezer bags at first, but now I just chuck them in the freezer, sage-style. It's cheaper and I can cram in more snus that way.

I keep most of my snus in the freezer, a boxful or more in the fridge, and way too many in my room. Occasionally I'll throw most everything back in the freezer and start pulling them out again.

All of these replies should be stickied somewhere. MojoQestor really summed it up. A "boxful"? lol. An open-contribution FAQ section is called for.

You are wasting a lot of space on carrots and meat.

FWIW, I have now had snus that was frozen 2 years AFTER the best buy date, and stored "Naked" in the freezer as others have said, and it was still fine.

As others have said, I have always been the lazy kind and just put my cans straight into the freezer. But what works for you really just depends on your personality. Care free and lazy, go my way. You enjoy being a bit anal and controlling, then definitely go the freezer bag route. Most people who do always seem so smug about it, it clearly makes them "happier" knowing they have taken that extra effort.

One day, I wold love to do a straight up test case between the same snus left in a freezer bag for a year vs one frozen a year naked just to see if there is any noticeable difference

One thing people don't talk about is what effect long term storage does to the pH of the snus.

Swedish snus includes finely ground tobacco with a total nicotine content of about 1.5 to 2.5 percent and it has a pH target value of about 8.5. These levels are traditional for Swedish snus and have remained unchanged for years. However, the pH level of the products declines as they age, meaning concurrently with the storage time. The pH level never increases. In Sweden, snus is stored in coolers before it is sold, which means that the pH levels are more stable than, for example, those of American snuff, which is fermented and is not stored in coolers. For reasons related to process engineering, pH levels are also allowed to vary somewhat in the finished product.

2 year old snus might taste fine, but it won't have the same nicotine kick that fresh snus has. I freeze my snus in freezer bags and try not to have more than one years worth in the freezer.

I use a big freezer bag, it hold 3 rows of 8 cans. In the freezer. Doesn't take up much space too.

I've got mine in freezer bags. I have 6 mixed rolls in the freezer, in 4 bags and some 'naked' due to space constraints.

Unfortunately,I just got my order from clubsnus of 2 more rolls in fridgemates and 2 boxes of Discreet, but due to needing to keep food for the family, there is no more room in the freezer or fridge for the new additions

Looks like it's time to re-organize and clean out fridge and freezer.

Throw those space wasters out. Canned goods FTW!! Spam and potatoes are all you need for healthy meals. Freezer space is more important than frozen vegetables, and ice cubes :^D

When I first started snusing, I was all anal about it and vacuum sealed the snus in bags, now I just throw them in the drawer in the bottom of the freezer, and now that I got 2 of the fridgemates from clubsnus, I keep them full as well. I have seen no taste difference between the two, but I only keep enough snus for 3 to 4 months.
