    ELIXYR SNUS my opinion. :(

I am always looking for a new taste of snus and was ordering my usual stuff from buysnus and ordered a can of ELIXYR, the one with caffeine and taurine blended into the tobacco.

I was excited to try a snus that would also give me a jump start in the morning. When the package arrived it was the first one to be opened. At first the smell was good and the taste was ok. One of the portions had been damaged at the factory so there were little bits of snus in the can. Kinda messy. It seems that the caffeine and taurine was added to the tobacco at the last second or maybe even after it was in the portion pouch. Because of this, there is condensation on the inside of the can. Not so attractive.

Anyway, the taste starts out ok. Nothing like a premium snus like ettan or Skruf. More like a discount portion snus. Once you start to get the juices flowing it becomes terrible. The chemicals over power the snus and I can hardly keep it in without puking. I have a sensitive pallet so it could be different for you.

I took good care of this can and always kept it in the fridge and out of the sun and heat. I keep it inside my breast pocket of my snowboard jacket when riding so I'm pretty sure it never warmed up. Perhaps they expect you to consume the contents rapidly. I took my time and it seemed to spoil fast.

My can now has 13 pouches still in it. When you open it, the snus smells like ammonia or cat piss with a hint of black dirt. It really smells bad and I don't dare try any more of it.

If you snus a lot and expect to consume it quickly it may be different for you. I wouldn't suggest this snus to anybody I didn't dislike.

The tin is cheap plastic that can open up when you take a fall snowboarding and the top lid for discarded snus also pops off easy. I was not stoked to see a half portion that had been cut in a machine inside my tin. The residue was all over the other portions and may have started the smell?

This snus sucks in my opinion. It didn't give me much of a nicotine, caffeine or taurine buzz like I had expected.

What do you guys think about it?

I have to agree with almost all of that.

I have about 5 portions left of one tin in the fridge, and an unopened one in the freezer (I ordered 2 tins). I don't know how I got through that many of them, and will probably chunk the remainder.

I'm putting this one up there with Phantom on my list of "never order again."

I've been against it the whole way. I don't like the packaging, and I don't like weird additives to my snus. That and Wise are 2 brands I will never try.

I foolishly ordered two tins and am working through the second one now (damnit, I paid for it, I'll use it). But like you, I can't stand it. It stinks, gives me no kick at all, and becomes unbearable inside 10 minutes. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm glad I read this because I was planning on ordering Elixyr on my next order. Now I will not. I wouldn't pass up on the Wise 6mg though. It's very clean and neat, and with the nic to spin your head. Thanks Bob for the info on the e-cig. I will let you know when I get it and try it.

While I think that a snus with a little caffine in it would be great (coffee flavored maybe?) I agree that this stuff really sucks.
Tastes like paper and chemicals, a terrible way to start the day and I am certain of that because I started my day with a portion of this today and never will again. I might use the rest of the can, but I'll probably end up giving it away to a couple of guys at work who seem interested in snus. I will also give them a portion of something else, just so they dont think all snus tastes like this abomination.

I haven't tried it yet but i'm not surprised. It was a buck cheaper than my usual snus but i ordered one anyway out of curiousity. I just received it yesterday but decided to try a can of lucky strike first (which is pretty damn good IMO).

Just popped a portion of the ORIGINAL (not the Energy Boost one) and I can honestly say that in my opinion this snus is bloody awful. It is sweet and tastes a bit like Cola, with a hint of that V2 fakeness.
Well, I only ordered one can just to try out the newbie - it is going in the trash.

Today's 'real' snus is Lucky Strike original portions - bliss!

Damn, I just remembered that I have one of those in the freezer.

I'll try it, but something tells me it's going in the trash can.

The initial e-mail that I got from Buy Snus telling me of it's release was enough to make me shudder. It sounded like a terrible idea from the get go. Who needs caffeinated snus when coffee and snus go together so well? If I want caffeinated snus, I'll have a pris of Grov with morning coffee.

(Granted, I rarely drink caffeinated coffee anymore so my opinion probably means nothing.)

I'm with lxskllr on the issue. I don't like weird additives in my snus. And yeah, the packaging looks lame. I'd expect the brain-dead gamer types I had class with in high school to use this stuff if they used snus.

(That isn't to say that all gamers are brain-dead. I play video games myself. But seriously, the kids I had class with were truly brain-dead. No offense to anybody here.)

When I first saw the Elixyr "Power Energy" portion at Northerner, my thought was I certainly don't want or need some weird energy drink-like snus. If I want a pick-me-up with my tobacco, I'll have a cup of coffee...

... but what's up with the Wise? Is there a red flag that we should be aware of?

Just tried elixir and I have to say it isn't a particularly cultured taste, however I prefer it to the offroad flavours I have tried so far. But then I have many more brand to try before I am qualified to say.

There's nothing really terrible about Wise, but I've heard it described as being heavy on the aspertame. They also strike me as a company that wants to move in on the pharmaceutical market by making tobacco products that are very far removed from a traditional snus, and a natural product.

It's just a personal prejudice on my part, but I want to use a product with long roots, and not just a nicotine delivery system.

what a horrible thing to do to tobacco!

                              add cafeine and taurine!

line them against the wall and shoot them I say!
