OMG, I can't believe that no one has jumped to the defense of what I think is the greatest invention since sliced bread.
OK, yes, I will stipulate. It largely tastes like ass. Given all the wonderful snus options I have, this is NOT one I am going to reach for cause I want something that tastes good.
But there is more to life than just taste. This little piece of caffeinated nicotine is now my best friend.
First, understand, I work 3 jobs now. I never have a full day off (am putting off going to my third job tonight, have about 4 - 5 hours of work I have to do. Second, I am completely and utterly addicted to caffeine. I consume about the equivalence of 9 cups a day. If I don't, I will have a nasty headache by noon.
So not getting my caffeine is just not an option. In the past, when I was last working crazy hours, I used to use caffeinated soap, since I didn't have time to make coffee usually before I had to leave for my 60 mile commute. I have been making use of energy drinks since Red Bull first arrived, so I have long ago been open to any option I can get my caffeine. (Kind of like how I was open to other options to get my nicotine)
Now, I wake up, finally drag myself to the fridge, pop in my caffeinated snus, and then head back to bed. 30 minutes later, it is just a bit easier to get going. I pop another in as I leave for work, and by the time I get to work, I have already stabilized with my initial dose of caffeine. No mess, no fuss, and I don't have to do a thing to get my caffeine.
From a dollar perspective, I feel like I have hit the mother load. They say each Elixyr snus is equivalent to one cup of coffee. If I had to buy the coffee, it would run me between $1.00 - $1.50 per cup. If I grabbed an energy drink, make that $2.00 per. Heck, iven if I took the time to make coffee at home, it still would be about $.40 per cup when I factor in sugar and cream I need (an I usually just don't have time to make it - again, I work 3 jobs), A can of Elixyr costs $2.77, or $0.115 per snus. So each can saves me typically between $15 - $20 a can that I would otherwise spend feeding my "habit".
So, yes it tastes bad. But first thing in the morning, I just don't care. It deliverers what is promised. And in life, I will take that.
In your case it seems different due to your situation but there is this little thing called enjoyment.
Sure, we could just inject ourselves with a hit of nicotine/caffeine every hour and be done with it. But snusing is all about the process rather than the end. It's moving away from the quick hit mentality of smoking. Personally I would prefer to be an hour late for whatever I have to do (or even get an hour less sleep) just so I have time to enjoy my morning freshly ground coffee and prilla of los
Although I am a funded student so life isn't *that* stressful.
yeah, I remeber those student days. enjoy it, it doesn't last forever.
I do totally agree though about the enjoyment part. But a big part of my life right now is not about enjoyment, it is just about getting it done. For that part, the Elyxr works.
But once I am done getting going, I do switch over to my good snus, and the rest of the day is wonderful And I still make sure to take what little good time I have and enjoy it to the max. When I do have a little time, I love to sit in a cafe, drinking some fine Etheopian coffee wih either a Skruff stark, or maybe a Lucky Strike, and I do appreciate the finer moments in life.
But for getting going, and being willing to do battle day after day, the Elyxr really is a great addition to my toolbelt.

Sorry, I wrote that last post this morning before my aforementioned coffee and snus. Reading it back I realise it's a bit patronising ops:
Actually, not at all. It just made me remeber my days at Berkeley, when I would spend half my days and nights sitting in one of the cafes drinking good coffee and smoking. That was where i learned to love both my vices. And in those days, I would have posted EXACTLY as you did.
I have long been a coffee snob. For years, before Starbucks became ubiquitous, my wife and I traveled with a coffee make made entirely of plastic, and a stash of our "good stuff". And one day, I will again live a life that allows me to insist on always having the real thing again.
But today, I am trying to pay off $30,000 in CC debt my ex and I put on, insisting on traveling the world long before we could really afford it. Hence, the three jobs.
If you ever find yourself in my situation, you might come to appreciate the efficient delivery system approach. ;-> In the mean time, please keep doing it your way. Those really are precious days, that I hope will give you a lifetime of happy memories.
I'm on the fence about trying this, just because while the idea sounds interesting, we Americans have become so obsessed with legal stimulants that they're "caffeinating" everything, but many times without any real effect.
Sagedil, I hate to break it to ya, but the wake-up call you got from your energy soap wasn't from the caffeine it contained. Those soaps contain a large amount of peppermint oil, which promotes alertness when inhaled.
The caffeine anhydrous isn't actually absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin, any amount that does actually enter the body is so small that it would never have a noticeable effect.
The good news is, you can save yourself some money by just making soap with a bunch of peppermint oil.
Possibly, possibly. But I know that it delayed my caffeine headache, which was part of the purpose. But yeah, I did the research on it and that is why I no longer used it. Now the Elyxr's, they definitely do the trick. Again, prime goals at times is not so much feeling the affects of the caffeine, but rather, NOT feeling the effects of the lack of caffeine. Elyxr handles this task with moxy. Just know that it tastes like a** 8)
And welcome to the forum Thunderbird Juicebox. Good information here, better people.

I use Elyxr boost for the same reason! I start my day with the paper and a mug of coffee...and snus, of course. But the coffee overpowers the snus. Elyxr Boost by itself tastes like crap, but when you add strong coffee to cover the taste, by the time I'm done with the paper, I AM AWAKE!
And then the Elyxr goes back in the frig until tomorrow morning and I'll break out some real snus.
Funniest thread so far. I love STORM's opener with the sad face in the subject. Best line: "When you open it, the snus smells like ammonia or cat piss with a hint of black dirt." As if the cat piss smell wasn't bad enough, throw in some black dirt as opposed to the more common brown variety.
Sagedil, I appreciate you sticking your neck out for the crack snus. We all clearly have our quirky tastes. Some, and I won't mention Premium Parrots' name, have several. I haven't been around long enough yet to develop my own.
And then a surprisingly eloquent retort from a member named, of all things, Thunderbird Juicebox! The name alone is awesome and funny.
You only go around once, so might aswell enjoy whats in yer upper lip. If I have learned anything since becoming a memeber of this board, it's that there is no right or wrong when it comes to snus, only what tates good to you. Snus up!
Elyxr is definitely a niche product. I just want to make sure that folks who might be like me consider it. I have one in now, and I am just laughing cause the taste thing has long ago not been an issue for me.
In my younger days, I experimented with a few things that one puts up their nose. The burn was something awful at first, and it would drip this nasty tasting stuff down your throat. But after a time, I associated that burn and taste with pleasure. I even looked forward to it :P
Same thing now with the Elyxr. It is just part of my morning routine, and the taste is an old familiar friend. A kind of strange friend who always smells a little funny, but a friend nevertheless.

Hey, if it works for than go for it!
I have alot of respect for you putting in such long hours to pay of your debts. Too many people these days would just give up and not pay/declare bankruptcy.
So if you want to stick a portion of cat piss smelling black earth(dung) tasting snus in yer upper lip, more power to ya brother!
I got a can of this with my latest Northerner order to see what it was like and because I like strong mint flavours (but have yet to find a good strong...
