im not going to click on the link but i will say that marijuana has been kept illegal because of racism, not because of issues with being able to tax it like a lot of people believe.

Explain how racism went into the decision to make it illegal? Pretty sure it was one industry lobbying government more than another, and therefore they outlawed the competition so the cotton farmers could profit.

Same thing happened with gasoline. Orriginally the first cars had the idea of using ethanol or other similar products as fuel but it became lucrative to use gasoline, a byproduct of other petrolium products, to be used as a fuel because they needed to get rid of the waste, and it was more expensive. Hence no more ethanol.

Your first link argues that it's not legal because it's associated with lazy people, and that pharma companies would love for it to be legal so they could profit from it (not true). Makes no mention of race

Read some of the links and it's pretty clear there was a lot of racism / class warfare involved.

Always is in almost any law. Like for instance, the fact that cigars are exempted in the PACT act. How convenient.

No argument here. Though I would like to nte that the risk of heart attack is increased when under the unfluence of MJ but that is negligable when comapred to it's many medicinal properties.


Cali has it up on the ballot for full legalization this year and the latest poll showed something like 8 out of 10 favoring it being legalized.

I think we got off on the wrong foot here and your probably not familiar with my stance on the issue.

We completely agree about legalisation. It is stupid to jail anyone for having some pot, and whether directly or indirectly as a result of prohibition on MJ, police use it as an excuse to search minorities. I've spent most of my life living in non white neighborhoods so I am completely convinced this is true.

However you can't say that if we legalized weed less people would kill themselves. Weed can bring out underlying psychosis in people who already have it. The columbine thing etc is in my opinion a biproduct of the pharma companies push for the use of antidepressants which are known to lead to suicidal tendencies in some people. A lof of these mass shootings were by people on drugs like this.
But then again i could point out that almost 100% of criminals in jail have used or frequently use marijuana, yet we both know pot didn't make them do it. So drawing a conclusion based on just observing ONE piece of the puzzle isn't fair.


I agree with your views on pot, what I don't agree with is that there is a mass genocide occuring in our country because it's only legal in 14 states. It should be legal, for economic, social and medical reasons, but the fact that it's not legal doesn't mean that people are dying en masse due to it's absence, like you orriginally stated. Plus, we have been talking about medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is not prescribed to people who are thinking about killing themselves.
