    The PACT ACT

I've read the bit's and pieces that I could find on the forum regarding the act but I can't seem to get a full understanding of how and in which ways this effects us buying snus online.

If anyone can direct me to a tread if this has been discussed before that would be great. If not would you please provide your input on the issue so that I know I'm getting the right information

    Thank you

I'll list what I've heard to give you an idea of what I know:
-After PACT we can't receive snus in the mail
-After PACT we won't be able to order through international stores
-After PACT we can only buy certain brands
-After PACT we will be charged all federal, state, and local taxes on it, causing the price per can to skyrocket
-After PACT we won't be able to get snus at all
-After PACT the entire world will end and judgement day will be upon us. (Hopefully God's a snuser)

That's all I can think of at the moment. Thanks for you input.

C True (Actually, this is more to do with the FDA requirements taking hold as per June 22, 2010).

E Lookin' that way already for some folks (Possibly for NY residents as it's been said that even private carrier (UPS) is not doing tobacco in that state) - with of course concerns this may eventually be picked up by other states...
      F 2012??
I made a couple of my own assessments as per bolded.

Isn't our only threat the fact that UPS and Fedex could essentially say that they may choose to not ship tobacco products? I know the costs will be slightly more but as I understood on getsnus.com, the taxes will be calculated and paid when you check out at their web site.

That's only for domestic shipments. There's already disturbing reports regarding foreign shipments, and that's assuming there's shipments at all. New York is out if the vendors follow the law.

Right, but for us in the US ordering from getsnus.com will be no different than it was before, except for the shipping must be by ups. Since I previously ordered from buysnus.com only, I would pay $11.00 or more my snus use should not change as long as UPS does not cut tobacco shipments.

I highly doubt they will because they deliver many of the products to tobacco stores and stuff already. They would loose to much money to do that. I understand some areas that are already loosing the freedoms granted in the constitution will likely have problems, but for those of us lucky enough to be in the normal world should be alright.

I agree except our "world" as USA citizens is rapidly changing. Back in Oct 09, the PACT act was just a 'political wet dream' that was thankfully getting squashed OR held up in legislation. Look how quick things can change.

If the UPS drama that is currently seemingly playing out in New York was rather happening in California, I wouldn't be so worried because they've always been sorta their own country with goofy rules & regulations but New York is just a 'hop n skip' across the border for me personally.

When I went to mock up and order on getsnus.com it shows that there are no taxes applied. I assume that the interstate commerce law applies where there will be no taxes for this reason. I am in Michigan where we are lucky enough to have good interstate commerce laws so I would assume that I am in the best of the situation where I simply place orders as I normally would.

But things are still so unclear that I am doing a little more research before I order.

Thanks for all your responses. I'm confused about the brand restrictions. Is that through oversea's purchases or does that apply to getsnus.com as well. Getsnus.com is still a US warehouse isn't it. Or does that not matter.

Do you guys know what brands we won't be able to buy?

There was talk it don't matter, or won't, but now buysnus is restricting brands to the US too. So, I think brands that are not FDA registered will not be available, but maybe I am wrong.

The latest list I have may be outdated by now:
                          LD
                          Gustavus
                          Taboca
                          Lucky Strike
                          Camel (JTI)
                          Montecristo
                          Romeo y Julieta
                          Granit
                          Mocca
                          Blå
                          Landströms/Gellivare
                          Odens
                          Olde Viking
                          Elixyr
                          Chaini Khaini

I think this list is at least a couple weeks old.
