I know it's different in every area, but it's been funny around here for me to see it. I remember at the beginning of the year when I first heard about snus, I was running a Domino's connected to a Valero gas station, and the girl next door heard I was trying to quit smoking and she brought over their store kit and said "Hey, we're getting this stuff next month from camel, it's supposed to be like dip, but it's smokeless and spitless".
I, unlike alot of people, got it and used it for a LONG time, I have SO many empty Frost cans in my empty can stack it's crazy. I switch to Swedish shortly thereafter. But I remember when it first came out to now, it's so crazy. I think it's funny how it's caught on here, so many people use Camel Frost. When they see my can and ask what it is, they're like oh is that dip? I'm like no, it's snus, and they're all, oh like the Camel stuff? And then I explain to them what it is, and often times give them a can out of my stock to get them converted, usually a mini mint or something like that I have extra of, and they always come back and ask for more, or ask more questions about snus...it's really interesting. (does anyone else give cans to people who ask about snus?)
But it's crazy, at the beginning of the year, no one knew about it. Just heard about a new spitless, smokeless tobacco product. And it's catching on here. Instead of being "test marketed", you see it in every gas station. With the sites like SnusOn, and people like us who spread the word, I wonder if snus will ever become a mainstream product and began being sold in the US? Even though the government is against tobacco, they can study it and realize it is a better alternative to smoking, and has helped SO MANY of us quit. Watching it catch on as it is now, I wonder how long before we see General, Roda, etc in gas stations like we do with their huge collection of dip cans?
