    Snus Boom

I know it's different in every area, but it's been funny around here for me to see it. I remember at the beginning of the year when I first heard about snus, I was running a Domino's connected to a Valero gas station, and the girl next door heard I was trying to quit smoking and she brought over their store kit and said "Hey, we're getting this stuff next month from camel, it's supposed to be like dip, but it's smokeless and spitless".

I, unlike alot of people, got it and used it for a LONG time, I have SO many empty Frost cans in my empty can stack it's crazy. I switch to Swedish shortly thereafter. But I remember when it first came out to now, it's so crazy. I think it's funny how it's caught on here, so many people use Camel Frost. When they see my can and ask what it is, they're like oh is that dip? I'm like no, it's snus, and they're all, oh like the Camel stuff? And then I explain to them what it is, and often times give them a can out of my stock to get them converted, usually a mini mint or something like that I have extra of, and they always come back and ask for more, or ask more questions about snus...it's really interesting. (does anyone else give cans to people who ask about snus?)

But it's crazy, at the beginning of the year, no one knew about it. Just heard about a new spitless, smokeless tobacco product. And it's catching on here. Instead of being "test marketed", you see it in every gas station. With the sites like SnusOn, and people like us who spread the word, I wonder if snus will ever become a mainstream product and began being sold in the US? Even though the government is against tobacco, they can study it and realize it is a better alternative to smoking, and has helped SO MANY of us quit. Watching it catch on as it is now, I wonder how long before we see General, Roda, etc in gas stations like we do with their huge collection of dip cans?

There are pros and cons. Cons obviously is the price would go up. Pros - more people stop smoking, easy access to snus. I've converted Atreyukun to snus. I'm working on my mom and dad now.

Heck yeah. Especially those freebies or half used tins of stuff I'm not that into.

I think it depends on laws and taxes more than anything. Otherwise it would just be a matter of time.

I carry one of the little sheets from GetSnus and some Discreet pouches for interested people. Usually people read it and don't want to try it, but I have some sweeter snus on my person just in case I ever win a convert.

I;m gonna use some of my Discreet for my family. I gave my mom a pack of the General Dry Mint and Wintergreen (as she's a menthol smoker), but she hasn't tried them yet. I plan to be more aggressive next time.

ive gotten a few people who have used dip to switch over, a sergeant i work with loves general maxi portions cant get enough of em. he still spits it like dip i dunno why he said he swallows some, i guess he has to get used to it or something. he gave me like 15 bucks to get him like 5 cans one time. another sergeant i know used that camel stuff said he cut back on smoking some but needed something that hit more, so i gave him thunder frosted, everytime he seen me hes like lemme get a frosted from ya lol. now he orders it all the time.

camel SNUS is in every gas station here (costal nc), but it's been a complete failure. So much so, that the price has been slashed to < 2$/tin. I've had a dialogue with several gas stations and they've all said the same thing; it seems the vast majority of people who buy them don't have enough cash on hand for cigs. Their failure certainly isn't due to lack of advertising, it's due to ineffective advertising.

Yeah.. I just got a 5 pack of Thunder Frosted in the mail and a mystery can of General mini mint which I plan on giving to a girl that wants to try some snus..

It would be great if snus was available locally! I don't see it happening any time soon though

I wish I could at least get General locally here. The best we have where I live is Grand Prix (supposedly, I've never actually seen it) and Camel.

I still don't see snus around here much except for maybe some Camel at the convenience stores...priced at $4.29 and up, yikes! But I did also see another good product in a small convenience store the other day...they actually had all 3 flavors of the Stonewall's Dissolvable Tobacco. I already have some of the Wintergreen but hadn't tried the Java flavor yet, so I grabbed a box of those. It was $2.69 for the box of 20 tablets. The Java flavor was pretty tasty!

It won't take the place of my snus, but sometimes when you don't feel like taking out a can/package I can grab one of these and look like I'm just putting a mint in my mouth or something. Might even be the perfect solution for those Delta flights if the attendants give you any problems :P

I gave a can of Ettan original portion to my mother. She actually liked it. She's dipped Bruton snuff for about 65 of her 74 years, and said she'd be using the snus in places she can't dip.

I gave several cans of a variety of snus to my brother to encourage him to quit smoking. He's still smoking, but he is definitely using the snus. I'll know when he runs out cause he'll probably call wanting more.

A couple of guys at work said they were trying the Camel snus and I'm hoping they try the real stuff.

Maybe a revolution is under way!
