I'd already been off cigarettes for 5 years before I started using snus. Since then I've started smoking again, but only occasionally when I really fancy one, and safe in the knowledge I'll never go back to a pack a day habit. My nicotine intake is probably 80% snus, 20 % cigarettes, and I'm happy with that.

As a non-smoker I was depressed with constantly fighting temptation. With snus, I can smoke now and again and not sweat it.

well, i first ''encountered'' snus, a few weeks ago. a friend of mine is studyin in stockholm, when he was on holiday, he came to istanbul to visit me and introduced this tiny thing called snus. he said one wouldnt crave for a single cig, when this thing is in mouth. first i couldnt believe, but then i realized thats totally true and this thing has a unique taste. i was a pack per day smoker for 4-5 years but since then i used snus and smoked only 3-4 cigs (especially when im drunk, i want to hold a cig in my hand, i dunno why).

the fact is; in normal life sometimes i miss cigarettes, but i dont miss the taste, i only miss the feeling to hold that thing in hand sometimes, an old habit thats why i know. although i know snus is much better for health, i dont count it as substitute for cigs. if i want a cig really bad i'd smoke. but this happened so rarely really, that i cant believe!

When I got determined enough to quit it was all or nothing. I just snus, no smoking...when I go out drinking I make sure I take gum and strong portion snus. It helps to grab a straw if you need to. I still miss cigarettes to be honest and you will miss them probably for the rest of your life. But it boils down to this, you are a slave to that cigarette...and until you revolt against it, it owns you. Thats just my two cents on it.

After snus got me of the cigarettes well over a year ago, quitting snus is like a walk in the park. I used snus as a tool to quit smoking but found that I fell in love with it. I went pre-PACT crazy.

I haven't had snus in over a month, no problems Although I still do snuff the shit out of the 'baccy powder though.

I still smoke a pipe, as I have for many years, but I was never a cigarette smoker. I have used snus very successfully to (1) decrease the amount of my pipe smoking and (2) increase the pleasure of life by being able to enjoy tobacco when I cannot or choose not to smoke.

Kudos to those who choose and are able to completely cut out smoking in any form. But for recovering cigarette smokers out there who still sometimes crave tobacco in a burning form, might I suggest you consider learning to enjoy an occasional pipe to supplement your snusing. Pipe smoking takes some practice, but it's a very pleasant way to enjoy tobacco once you get the hang of it. And it's far less harmful than cigarette smoking, in part because you don't inhale the smoke. Plus, like wearing glasses, it can give others around you the impression that you are smarter than you are!
