As said previously - always move the snus around. You can put it anywhere in your mouth where it's in contact with your gums.

When I started snus I had sore gums for a week and then it just quickly disappeared. I've had no trouble whatsoever since.

    Enjoy.

    hey welcome to SnusON ...

first of all tell us what type of discomfort you feel...

    if it's a burning sensation it's normal...

a dizziness ..... or itching sort of ... it's normal...

if you get nausea ... or simply don't feel right with snus under your lip then it's normal ..... I felt the same way first time I started snusing and though would never use it again....

Yet things change as you build tolerance/get used to it.

Greetings from the UK solonor and welcome to SnusOn!

I would go with what the others have been saying on trying some different brands and frequently changing where you place your snus between the top left of your mouth, top middle and top right (this should cut down on gum irritation) Once you find a brand/brands that work(s) well for you and you're reguarly alternating where you place your snus things should get a lot more comfortable for you.

The most discreet snus I've found are the Northerners, available as 3mg and 6mg potencies. Hell, they're so discreet that most of the time you'll forget you've got one (or two) lipped!!

Next are most of the minis at, usually, 4mg; Thunder mini+ have 8mg.

Then there are the long & slims and the long+, usually at higher potencies; up to 12mg for the Thunder Frosted Long+.

Discreet is good ... no fat lip!! An important feature when the occasion calls for it. They seldom cause any gum problems!!

    And welcome to Snuson...

Welcome to snuson, nice beard. The look of your mouth is normal.
IMO Granit los is about the softest stuff you can buy.
So far - I've found that to be true.

Just curious Solonor - what brands of snus, if any, are you able to get locally? Is there a Turkish snus?

rotate sides man. Go from left to right to middle, to left again but further back and so forth. If you don't wanna try los yet (in my opinion Göteborgs Prima Fint los is smooth as a baby seal) get some long portions, try general smooth medium portions. Hell try mini portions man. There is a world of options.

As stated above this is normal. You are introducing a foreign element into you mouth. Your gums have no clue to the salty nicotine goodness that lurks in snus.. but it will. Also in time your lip will form a dip or a pouch if you will to aid for the snus especially if you prefer to use it in a certain area in your mouth, this will make it not as noticeable (if that bothers you or not.. not i!).

    Happy snusing!

I am not a medical professional but it is not uncommon to have some gum issues when you first start using snus. They will go away after your gums get used to it. All snus is different. Some grinds are softer than others in los, they use different pouch materials in portions and you also have mini portions which are smaller. Your best bet is to get a sampler pack and see what works for you as everyone is different. The odds are your gums and lips will feel better in a few weeks.
