Yea, I just listen to whatever I like despite labels and popularity. I love The Counting Crows, Muse, Sage Francis, NIN, Public Enemy, Bruce Springsteen, Mindless Self Indulgence, and others very far from punk.

I listen to mostly the Beatles at this point which probably would have embarrassed the heck out of me in the mid '90s. I've got about 3500 songs in my iTunes library and only about 1100 are punk.

Love The Beatles. I've been buying the remasters 1 a week. I have Let It Be, Hard Day's Night, today I think it's going to be Magical Mystery Tour, or Abbey Road. Playing the hell out of Beatles Rock Band.

But the comment about straight edge being elitist is dead on. In fact the whole holier than thou attitude got so over the top that I completely distanced myself from the straight edge scene after my teens. Few of them ever realised that straight edge was never an end in itself, but instead a means to an end.

I find that elitist, even bigoted mentality is also found in some anarchist punks. They sometimes become worse than that which they claim to be against.

I never really bought into the whole scene thing. I did dress the dress to some extent. Multicolored hair, studded belt, chains and what not. It took too long to get dressed, so I reverted to my grunge days.

I went pretty simple because I am lazy. Usually it was a ringer t-shirt two sizes too small, chain wallet, black pants or shorts, and a pair of Vans or Converse. The hair of course was ever changing spiked, bleached, short short, never really settled.

Spiking the hair always took me forever. Do you like Strung Out? I just got their new CD, and it's the fastest, hardest they've done yet. One of the few bands I have a tattoo of.

Yeh their pretty good, I haven't listened to much from them but I've been pretty happy with most of the bands on the Fat label. I am a big fan of their compilations for good bands that I don't have a full album for. I kinda relate them with Bad Religion. I hadn't really heard of them until I was past my years of buying lots of albums.

I miss the Fat People comps. They haven't put out one in years. Really the last "new" band that signed to fat that I really liked was The Lawrence Arms.

man casey jones is awesome. theres a ton of great sXe bands. but yeah the movement as a whole is disgraceful.

me, i went through several phases of punk attire, first was the mohawk and spiked/painted leather jacket, the tight plaid pants and bullet belt. it was lame. then it was all black clothes, head to toe with patches. usually a dropdead shirt or a warm gun, or something to that effect. oh man one band no ones mentioned who is probably my second favorite punk band after op ivy: CHOKING VICTIM. wheres the love for cv!? leftover crack also, but they got super lame, and choking victim was way better. ive never heard of strung out, but have you ever heard strung UP? they are the shit, dude.

but as an echo of what several others have said, i listen to a million different things. i love justin timberlake, a ton of rap, i like a handful of country (mainly outlaw shit) pretty much everything considered classic rock (with the exception of aerosmith, and some other shitty bands), love metal, and i dont mean disturbed or any of that lameass metal, i love behemoth, king diamond, the first 3 albums by metallica, select pantera tracks, most black metal, most cheesy hair metal. brujeria is the most awesome punk metal band. i also like things like modest mouse and the white sripes, the black keys are great. i really like owl city regardless of how christian and weirdly goody two shoes the guy that makes the music is. i LOVE ben folds. lucero is one of my favorite bands as of late, ive seen them twice this year and will probably go see them again next month. love the pixies, no ones mentioned them yet...

im in kind of a musical apathy lately, just get so bored of things.

Who doesn't love The Pixies? If you like underground hip hop, check out Sage Francis.

Awww man he's great. I saw him live in NO a few years ago. Buddy Wakefield and Buck 65 opened. Ani Difranco was at the show, and got up on stage with Buddy and did a spoken word.
