I admit I haven't tried dissolvables as I've been so contented with snus but from the research I've done it is a good deal better then gum or patches. It's a whole tobacco product and from the people I know who have used them a good deal more satisfying then the pharmaceutical junk. With most of the on-line sources no longer selling them this would be a good product for Northerner to carry.

Most people who I know that have tried some non-tobacco nic source wind up using it in conjunction to their old favorites like ciggys. Get her some sweet girly portioned snus in a pretty can and see if you can't talk her into using it just around the house at first. Don't lean on her too hard whatever you do as no one enjoys being nagged.

She doesn't really smoke that much, only when she's at home, but if I could get her to feel comfortable with something else as a replacement, that would be great.
At least it's a start, which sure beats doing nothing;
it may be all she needs since she's a light smoker.
She only smokes when she's home, so she might
eventually decide she would prefer the flavor
varieties that snus has to offer. At least let her
out of the starting gate; let human nature work.
Variety, as we all know, is the Spice o' Life.
To my mind (wherever it might be), if the missus wanted
to use something she could be more comfortable with,
like maybe a flavored toothpick, I'd say "go for it,
what do you have to lose".

If all else fails you can always tie her up and ... err....uhh...yeah, get her to try one of this dissolvable things.
In all seriousness, I missed out on this. There was a package of Stonewall, I think, in a box pass that I had participated in. I didn't try it and I wish I had just so I'd know. It didn't appeal to me as it looked like a pill and I quite enjoy having a pouch of leaves in my mouth. There's definitely an oral fixation thing with snus and if it weren't for that I don't think that I would continue much. I'd be interested to hear about her trial(s) with it...but nicotine is a bitch...before you know it she might be walkin' around the back yard with a big ole monster chaw of Beechnut trying not to spit on the kid or anyone's feet.

I bought some Stonewall tablets a few years ago at a local smoke shop. I wasn't crazy about them, but I only tried the originals and didn't give them much of a shot. It's been many years since I tried Oliver Twists, but I was disappointed. I just remember them being rubbery and tiny.

I haven't tried the dissolvables, but I have tried Oliver Twist Original. I think she might be turned off the Oliver Twist Original flavor (tobacco), so get a flavored version if you try these IMO. I also second the Oomph suggestion. They do not seem anything like tobacco product to me. It's great that there is such a variety of things she could try instead of cigs. Even e-cigs might be to her liking. I say just educate her on all the different choices that IMO are a millions times better than cigs and hopefully she'll come around to trying some out. Who knows what she'll end up liking? Everyone is different. Six months from now she could be using Grov Loose, Toque, and smoking a pipe once in a while. Just thinking about trying something new out is a great start. Keep us posted.

I'm going to see if the tobacco shop in my area that carries General has any of the Ariva or Stonewall tablets and she's going to try them.
Looking at Northerner, it looks like the Oomph comes from the Swedish warehouse only, which I'm trying to avoid until the whole brokerage thing settles down a bit. But it looks like a good option as well.
I'll also tell her about the Oliver Twists and see what she thinks about that.
I told her if she likes the General Mini Mints, I can pick that up by the can at the cigar shop, plus I have about 6 of the foil packs from the trial packs I've got strategically placed all over the house.
I don't really know a whole lot about the e-cigs, but maybe that could be an option as well. I'll have to do some research on those and see what I can find out. You just can't beat the ease of popping in a portion and sitting down though.

E-cigs can be a lot of work but they are kinda cool and you get plenty of ritual out of them. I hate them now, but they got me started on snus FTW!

I've never been able to find Ariva, including at Walgreens, but Stonewall seems to now be readily available in many convenience stores and gas stations. I like Stonewall Natural and Java, and I'd probably like the Wintergreen if I liked wintergreen flavor, which I don't especially. I don't like Stonewall as much as snus, but buy some occasionally for a change of pace.
With the e-cigs, they now have cheaper (to start with) disposable versions that are intended to let people see if they like it before investing in the more expensive reusable ones. (I'm a pipe smoker and have no experiene with the e-cig, but I have tried the e-pipe. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but mine quit working properly within a year. It was too expensive a gadget to have that happen--in my experience, only the pricey original Ruyan version was worth the effort. A cheap knock-off version I tried tasted like crap, regardless what type of nicotine cartridges you "smoked" in it. So I gave it up and stuck with snus as my (ever growing) smoking substitute. But I could see a cigarette smoker being satisfied with the cheaper e-cigs regardless of taste since, frankly, flavor is less relevant to sucking in cigarette smoke than it is to savoring pipe smoke.)
