Many people are prescribed Valium for various things usually more for anxiety or improved sleep. Poor sleep or lack of sleep is linked to HTN (Hypertension or elevated BP). Sometimes it is also prescribed for restless leg syndrome at night which also can impede sleep. If you are concerned speak with her and her physician. I prefer referrals to sleep specialists (Lung Doctors or Neurologists) if they are available in your area, especially if this course of treatment doesn't work.
