I always horded snus because I wanted access to all the brands I liked, when I wanted them. Now it's more important due to higher taxes, and some brands getting harder to come by. Snus keeps a very long time in the freezer, and a fairly long time in the fridge. I've had snus 2years past expiration, and while it isn't /quite/ as good as fresh, it's close enough.

Yeah, you are, but its no problem, that's what the forum is here for.

Snus, if frozen will last, by all accounts, over a year. I have heard it will last indefinitely, but the minimum estimate I have heard is about a year.

The expiration dates on snus are not nearly as important as on dip because the pasteurization process by which snus is created kills the microorganisms in tobacco that cause the various levels of nasty stuff to increase with self-life.

You could expect to see some loss of moisture and taste if you left the snus in the fridge or at room temperature over a year, but if it is frozen, it keeps very well.

The point of stocking up is because of the PACT act, a nasty little piece of legislation that will limit our snus selection and require us to pay taxes before delivery. I you need more info on PACT, there are a ton of threads around where it is extensively discussed. Here are two:

Hell, for less than what that thing is gonna go for, you can go to the Salvation Army and get a good frige/freezer for the garage, and have a beer fridge and snus freezer all in one..... :?

50 cans lasts you a year? Good god I wish I could do that. I blow through at least 30 cans a month.
I only use maybe 60 cans a year. You my friend need to cut back. As I have said before. YOU DON"T NEED IT IN YOU MOUTH 24/7

I wish 60 cans would last me a year.

Regular strength 8mg loose lasts just over a day, Sterk portions I use a can every 3 days.

Also when I purchase snus it is really cost effective to purchase rolls of 10 at a time. So as I like to have variety of different brands. I often end up hoarding a lot of snus.

If I were to snus only portions, I'd probably go through two cans every three days or so, maybe a little more. Lös will last me somewhat longer, but it's harder to say precisely, since I vary the amount I use from time to time.

Yep, this for me, too, pretty much.

meh. I used a ton when I first quit smoking, ran through the Northerner catalog in about two months (minus flavored snus, so it wasn't THAT much), but after that, it just kind of leveled out. I do feel pretty fortunate about that, cause it is nice to know my snus for a year cost me about 150 bucks as compared to what, thousands on cigs? Or tens of thousands on all the /antidepressants/brain drugs/doctors visits/lawyers/bondsmen I would have to pay for if I quit nicotine all together.

But if you want to blow through a can a day, I'm not gonna tell you that's "too much". Any single person that uses any stimulant could stand to cut back, they aren't good for you, but tobacco usage is a very personal thing and we all use it for various reasons and need varying amount of nicotine, habitual action et cetera, et cetera. As long as it's keeping you off the sticks, who cares?

You my friend, have a nicotine problem.

Though Marc at V2 told me he uses 3 cans of Thunder frosted a day!

that snus fridge seems a bit excessive to me (and this is coming from someone who just blew probably over $100 total just trying to find the right snuff spoon).

I use somewhere between 2 to 5 mini (usually white) portions of snus a day. I can't imagine using the 20 - 24 (depending brand) it would take to go through a can in one day.

I have just over 100 cans in the freezer with 40 more on the way,
I'm really hoping rolls of white mini portions kept in the freezer (in zip locked baggies made especially for the freezer) will last 'next to forever'

My $150 refrigerator could probably fit 4000 cans...

I was looking at it before the price got too high for me to justify it, but that was just because I was wondering if they'd let it slide if I asked for four rolls of Lucky Strike OP or Montecristo lös or something like that. But, as it is, that thing would only hold about a month and a half's worth of snus for me, and my crappy electrical circuits at this house would probably cry blood if I tried hooking up anything else.

                              Its a fridge, right?
I really can't see the sense of that the more I think about it

a freezer just for snus, at a stretch I could maybe see, maybe (if you're really hording.. I have a little apartment sized chest freezer because my fridge's freezer isn't big enough to hold a decent amount of food nevermind snus, and the snus goes in the little side lined part of the chest freezer, still most of it is actually holding food)

but a fridge, just for snus?

Who even needs that many in their fridge at one time, let alone who has that many cans open at one time?

I've been snusing for about 5 years, and I go through about a little less than can a day as well (of portions). I think the difference is that a lot of people on this forum seem to like to keep a portion in for hours. I do not. I keep one in for about 20 minutes to a half hour. Sometimes a bit more, but never ever over an hour. Once it starts to drip too much, it gets tossed. I should probably use less than I am, but it's better than the pack of ciggs I used to smoke daily I am hoping.
