    tobacco-free snus

So, I have quite an oral fetish thing. When I'm not snusing, I eat sunflower seeds. A lot.

Sadly, the sunflower seeds have done very bad things for my gums/teeth. Where i keep my seeds in my mouth i am starting to see gum recession, etc. However, since my family has a really bad track record with cancer, I'm not too keen on continuing snusing because, it definietly will add to my risks of cancer.

I've been looking into tobacco-free snus, but I've heard that it does horrible things to your teeth/gums. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

SM changed the formulation of their Onico brand due to it causing tooth rot. I don't know about the other companies. I'd guess gum recession would be the same as tobacco snus. It's an irritant sitting on your gums.

I definitely remember reading a big article about that, I believe it was because some of the older tobacco free snus items contained sugar and the effect on teeth/gums were far worse than anything I've seen or heard of as a result of using actual snus.

The bottom line is that all of it probably carries some risk. If you're worried about it to that degree and want to satisfy an oral fixation, buy a pack of gum and call it a day.

my best Idea is something that doesn't involve your gums or sugar, but has alot of flavor- flavored toothpicks. If you go in most health food stores(local or chains like vitamin shop), They have "Tea tree oil chewing sticks". I love those things. They have tons of flavor, they're good for your teeth, and you can chew the shit out of them which helps stress relief, if that's your thing.

I chew gum as regularly as I use snus- Sugarfree gum is just good for your mouth too(teeth become stronger)- and has been shown to help with memory recall for some.
