    Snus ... gums .. and teeth ...

I've noticed in the last 2 or 3 days ... that snus and dip both increase the teeth pain .... the teeth pain is mainly due to my sinusitis and I've got 2 decays as well...

I guess the problem is the high level of sugar in snus .. did anyone experience this yet?

Once I pop-in in the snus under my lip the whole pain increases...

Also my gum partially ... freakin' tickles and hurts as well.

I was getting sore irritated gums and a numb feeling with regular portion snus. I switched to purified minis by Northerner and it went a way entirely and the 6mg nic hit seems to be a better hit than I was getting with 8mg regular portions.

I get in now from almost any type portions and los....
The pain is due to the sinusitis and I guess the strong portions and los that I use increases the pain.

I guess I have to snus less for a period ...

I have sinusitis as well. Try the Northerner for a break from your regular snus and see if it works for you.

I'll give it try ... and use it whenever my sinuses are bad....

          I usually didn't get the pain .... but I have a sinus relapse ..

I just tested earlier some dip ... (yesterday I've dipped all day and had this terrible migraine and tooth pain) ...

It it from dip... just 5 minutes after putting the dip in the pain was all over my teeth again and now it's settled again..

Haven't had this until yesterday..... damn it.

Sorry to hear you're in pain. I'd surmise it's accentuated by the effects of the nicotine...y'know the heartrate/bp rise. Dip is loaded with sugar, or at least it tastes that way, but i don't think snus has any. Now, you recently started dipping, right? I'd start by laying of that totally for a while though snus will still hurt you. When I was dealing with a tooth abscess the snus killed me but it didn't matter portion or los. Sucks when that happens 'cos the pain isn't enough to force me to stop snus all together but it's enough so that I don't enjoy them. Hope you get better soon.

Thanks a lot WickedKitchen for the kind words..
I'm happy I'm not the only one around with this problem.... Yep... both the snus and the dip is killing me and giving me terrible pain.. I will be taking mini's ... I have a few cans around until the pain goes away.

(I'm even a bit afraid to put anything but mini's in my lip now) that's how the teeth hurt :P

Maybe hold off on dip for a couple weeks. Only use snus and see if it goes away. Good luck!

                    Thanks!

Guess I'll drop the dip for a while it has way too much sugar.

High sugars in snus? Snus has absolutely no added sugar.

It's the dip dude, it really is harsh on your mouth even after only a few cans of use.

                        It's artificial sugar ..

Acesulfame potassium to be more exact.

Acesulfame potassium is a calorie-free artificial sweetener, also known as Acesulfame K or Ace K (K being the symbol for potassium), and marketed under the trade names Sunett and Sweet One. In the European Union, it is known under the E number (additive code) E950.[1] It was discovered accidentally in 1967 by German chemist Karl Clauss at Hoechst AG (now Nutrinova).[2] In chemical structure, acesulfame potassium is the potassium salt of 6-methyl-1,2,3-oxathiazine-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide. It is a white crystalline powder with molecular formula C4H4KNO4S and a molecular weight of 201.24 g/mol.[3]
And that can give you bad headaches and toothaches if you have decays...

Yep. It's the dip I have tested them both today... I have a General Mint Portion in my lip right now and it doesn't seem to start the pain ..
If I'd put dip in my mouth now the tooth pain will start instantly.. I've done the experiment like 3 times already today.

Snus and dip don't hurt me, but I've found that loose leaf chew gives me ear and tooth/jaw pains. Continued use will probably lead to tooth loss, or so the gigantic health warnings say.

Plus the cold weather here is conductive to ear and throat pains anyway, and tobacco only seems to make it worse.

I am also going to agree on the Northerner as it seems like a very gentle snus. My guess is that your problem in not with the sweetener but with the salt.

The reason sugars cause tooth ache and pain is that bacteria feed off the sugary residue in your mouth and produce more acid which wears down enamel. If you want to continue dipping I would recommend brushing teeth and (gently) the gums and tongue after each use.

Artificial sugars won't cause this as they are not a metabolized energy source for bacteria. They might have other reactions, depending on the person.
