Hey Sage! Which store did you buy it at? A cigar shop or a regular store? They said that Chicago would be a test market and I haven't seen it here as of yet. I wouldn't mind trying it once, just to see where it's falls in the grand scheme of things. 8)

What is the difference between this "new" Marlboro snus and the Marlboro snus thats been around for months now? Can you post a picture of the package?
Marlboro "Rich" , "Mild", "Peppermint", and "Spearmint" have been out for a long time now. Im confused. :? Also I dont see anything on their website indicating any kind of new snus. Just the same ol shitty snus theyve been pedaling.

Excuse me for the confusion.
I was on a little road trip yesterday, and stopped in gas stations in SC and NC. All of them either already had the snus, or had a sign noting that it was coming soon. I decide to make a post about the national release, but wanted a source to back it up. I found the article in question, which said that marlboro snus was going national, but ended up being focused on Swedish Match.

P.S. These dont come in cans. They come in little packs of 6 or 9 i think.

I thought so. The little blister pack looking things, containing six peices of low nicotine garbage. The only one that is even remotely tolerable is the "Rich"...it freaking tastes like Kahlua! But no nicotine to speak of, still garbage....
I thought they had already been out everywhere by now, as I live in a rural area, and they've been here forever now, and everywhere Ive been in Northern California seems to be selling them.
I would still like sage to clarify that this is not the ones we're talking about, and is in fact something entirely new....

RICHMOND (AP) - Cigarette maker Altria Group Inc. said Thursday that it plans to expand its Marlboro Snus smokeless tobacco nationwide by the end of March as it looks to shore up its business as American smoke fewer cigarettes.
The Richmond-based owner of Philip Morris USA, which makes the top-selling Marlboro brand, began testing the product in select markets in 2007. Snus (pronounced "snoose") are teabag-like pouches that users stick between their cheek and gum.
As tax increases, health concerns, smoking bans and social stigma continue cutting demand for cigarettes, Altria and other tobacco companies are seeking growth in cigarette alternatives - such as cigars, snuff and chewing tobacco - to keep customers.
In a presentation at a consumer analyst conference on Thursday, Altria's Chief Executive Michael E. Szymanczyk said a significant number of consumers now switch between tobacco categories and use different kinds of tobacco products but offered no figures.
Altria said in recent years that cigarette volumes have declined by about 4 percent per year, while the smokeless tobacco segment has grown by about 7 percent per year. The company, which also sells Black & Mild cigars, said the machine-made large cigar category has grown about 3 percent per year.
In 2009, the industry estimates cigarette volumes fell about 8 percent, partly because of a 62-cents-per-pack federal tax increase that took effect in April and related price increases.
Still, smokeless tobacco is a small business compared with cigarettes, and smokers haven't exactly embraced snus.
The nation's tobacco companies made a collective $9.4 billion in profits last year for cigarettes, while profits for the smokeless segment, which includes snus, snuff and chewing tobacco, were about $1 billion, Szymanczyk said in the presentation. And there were an estimated 45 million adult smokers in the U.S. in 2008, compared with about 7 million smokeless tobacco users that year, according to figures from Altria's Web site.
Last week, Greensboro, N.C.-based Lorillard Inc. announced that is was discontinuing a joint venture with Swedish Match for its Triumph Snus. Philip Morris USA had previously tested a smokeless, spitless tobacco product dubbed Taboka in 2006, which was later discontinued.
Meanwhile, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Reynolds American Inc. rolled out its Camel Snus product nationally last year, after testing the product since 2006, and has said the product has gained popularity.

I tried some of this about a week ago and it was terrible. I tried the Marlboro Rich which my friend got for free when he bought a pack of smokes. There are only 6 portions in the container and it had this very strange flavor. Think artificial chestnut or something like that. This has been out for a while and unfortunately it is nothing like Swedish snus. I will agree with the other people that said Camel snus is even better than this. They are really pushing these though. They are everywhere and are usually free with smokes or less than $2.00.

I had my dad in Arizona send me some since we don't have it up here yet. He sent me the 'mild' and the 'rich'. Complete garbage. I had one, spit it out in a few minutes, smelled the pouches in the other package, threw it out.
I have no idea what taste they were aiming for, but it's fackin' terrible. How does this shit ever come out of in-company testing?

Tristik - did you get a strange artificial chestnut taste from the Rich? For the first minute the Rich was OK and tasted a bit like a cigarette but the taste got strange after that. There was a familiar taste to it but I couldn't quite figure out what it was.
Marlboro product planners must be bad tripping on a low grade of acid if they think this grotesque funky crap will be taken seriously by anyone let alone any serious user of snus. About 5 seconds elapsed between putting one of these abominations under the lip and then abruptly spitting it out in disgust and pitching the lot into the trash. Attractive to children? They're not that dumb. Hell an especially dim rhesus monkey would turn up its nose at this putrid crud.
It's insanely overpriced as well. Two bucks for six portions as opposed to 24 real snus portions for three bucks is plainly a practical joke on tobacco users. Much as I hate the gummint approach to tobacco regulation the American majors are such clueless venal sleazebags that they pretty much deserve what they get. Marlboro snus has to take the prize for worst product introduction of the year, or the whole last decade for that matter.
That stuff (whatever it REALLY is) has been available around my area (they sell it at Wal-Mart) for a long time now...

Still have it laying around from buying some last year, since I'm certainly not ever going to try to put any of it in my mouth again. Only "advantage" is that it supposedly doesn't need refrigeration. Hmmmm. Neither does paint remover, window cleaner, drain opener, or battery acid, all of which I'm reminded of... rather like sucking the effluent from the waste pipe of a chemical plant.
I'd be afraid to flush it because I'm concerned about what it might do to my septic system. In my darker moments I think about accidentally dropping some over the fence for my neighbor's annoying pissant yip-yap dog.
Oh, and by the way, it provided almost no apparent nicotine so far as I could tell before I finally gagged and spit out the little turd.
