That is good to hear. Although when I order and see UPS, it's usually 20 or more dollars over regular mail. So I can still order from buysnus, just have to ship UPS and pay a lot more. Guess I'll be snus'n a lot of Offroad and Granit in the future. Luckily, I like some of the cheap brands. We'll just have to see how "cheap" they still are after UPS + tax collections.

That's what I think too. The PACT compliant record keeping will make it easier for the states to enact new laws, and they'll know where you live ;^) Also, the FDA hasn't figured out what it'll do with it's new found power yet....

Seems the more I read, this is a war between our government and the Seneca Indian Nation, and we are in the crossfires.

funny how the gears of washington work so quickly and efficiently when you don't want them to. I heard while listening to npr on the way to work this morning that this would be headed to the presidents desk today. I was hoping they were reporting using dated information. apparently not. all in all, I can't say I'm all that bothered by it. I fully believe snus will still be available to us all, as I always have throughout this process. It'll hurt the wallet a little more, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

                    .
SCHIP + State Tobacco Tax + Sales Tax + Shipping

                    --

SCHIP is $1.51 per pound on snuff
                    1 pound = 453.59237 grams
                    24 grams = 7.9 cents
                    45 grams = 14.9 cents

FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 TAX RATE ON OTHER TOBACCO PRODUCTS
In accordance with section 30126 of the Cigarette and Tobacco Products Tax Law, the Board,at its April 15, 2009 meeting, approved a tobacco products tax rate of 41.11 percent.Distributors will be required to apply this rate to all distributions of tobacco products, other than cigarettes, for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010
I think that 41.11% is based on the wholesale price :?:
So, how is this gonna work out Justin? If you order from a swedish website, are they supposed to add the tax to you´r purchase and then hand it over to ol´uncle Sam across the pond??? Sounds really sketchy to me and enforcing this will be whacked out beyond belief, I never heard of a swedish company paying taxes to a country they don´t actaully operate in.

All they do is send a package to the U.S, nothing more. Northerner and getsnus may be in USA if they have warehouses there, but I´m referring to a company based entirely in sweden now.

As for the mailing, it´s not unlawful to mail tobacco in Sweden, I can´t see the U.S authorities prohibit foreign companies to send packages to USA, even if they did how will they enforce it unless they physically stop them all in customs.

I don´t know, well anyway, I thought the U.S had pretty low taxes generally compared to Sweden, but talking about 6-7 dollars for a snus can,?? I can buy much cheaper than that here including all taxes aswell. In fact a can of Kronan portion costs about 3 $ taxed up the ass here if you go to the cheap place, and 2$ of that is taxes.

Start petiotioning you´r online shops to lower prices, I know Getsnus and Northerner have really high prices, but you all think they are "pretty cheap" cause there is no tax to your purchases.

Would you pay 3$ for a pack of smokes if there was no tax at all to it? I think not considering they cost like a dime to produce.

Anyways, not my place to rant since I don´t live in the U.S but good luck guys no matter how this thing turns out.

From what I've read and from what the industry folks are saying it looks like this will hit folks in the high tax states the hardest and all of us at least a bit. However, I do not believe this is the end of snus. My main order comes once a year. The last one I had to use UPS. It was the only option for a "bulk" order. Thus shipping should not really effect my main order (unless they jack up the price on Tobacco shipments- which is possible due to the extra hassle). That said, it will drastically reduce my smaller orders throughout the year. I think this is where the snus sites will get hit the hardest.

SC tax is 7%. Thus I'll see a small increase here. But nothing unbearable. Of course there could always be other fees and taxes I don’t know about.

So in the end, for me, the impact could negligible or it could be significant. We just don't know right now. Best to keep speculation and panic down.

Oh and Tristik, there is always Fed-X and DSL

Thank you Snusdog. So what, we have what, 4 sane members of Snuson left????

Nothing depresses me more than reading the stupid panic being posted by so many folks on this thread. It's not the end of the world folks. It is not gonna stop you from getting your snus. Just deal with it already.

I can deal with that. Convenience stores jack everything up, I suspect our local suppliers will still be able to sell it cheaper than tobacco stores at least if you buy in quantity, since snus is their only product.

So I don't need to stock up for the snus apocalypse. Glad to hear. I have no problem with them enforcing the taxes that were legally levied on these products, though I will of course do anything and everything to evade said taxes, but I can't blame them for wanting to enforce it.

Sucks, I enjoy paying $2 a tin. I only spend about 60$ a month that way.
you disappoint me sgreger. and I only pay about $300 a year between snus and snuff. But I will not believe that this is the end. These are only the first salvos in our direction. Not a direct hit now, but they will send in the smart bombs eventually.....

Yah it's sad but living in CA I have becomeaccustomed to handing over 50% of everything I earn over to the tax man in one form or another. This is probably just the first line of attack but I agree with sage here, as long as I can still buy it life will move on. From reading other posts I was under the impression that they were making it illegal to ship it all together. Since that's not the case this is just another case of outrageous taxes being levvied on my favorite things. Another day another dollar.

Just get enough for 6months to a year and after that if prices suck then just have a mindset of quitting when everything is all gone.

Interesting hearing someone from Sweden. I have a great interest in finding out how much SM, V2, and the rest are charging, as that's linked to how much state tax I'll be paying. Guess we'll find that out now as there will be no way to hide it. We can just compare notes on how much different people from different states are paying for it.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against someone making a buck. I'm not expecting charity, but the taxes I'll be paying are directly linked to this.

As for ordering directly from Sweden, that may be a thing of the past. You may still be able to do it but the international UPS shipping charges are gonna be way out there. Swedish post is not going to cut it anymore as there may be problems when it hits the US post. Northerner was very smart to expand there US warehouse.
