        How long did you smoke?
        About 30 years.

        When did you quit?
About a month ago, quit for 8 months last year.

        How much did you smoke?
1 to 2 packs worth, I think, though I most always rolled my own.

        What brand did you smoke?
Started on Bugler; Drum, Three Castles, Tiedeman's Norwegian Shag, Samson; The only tailor-made I ever smoked much of were Camel Straights.

I've always despised filters, because of both taste and environmental reasons.

15-16 years, 2 packs a day, Marlboro menthol light was my brand for 10 of those years, till they changed to FSC, something PM was using was making me sick, like serious allergies, so switched to Salem gold this year.
Decided enough is enough, still smoke, but not nearly as much as I was, and hope to get rid of them all together soon.

            Total of 12 years. I quit in 85, 90, 93, 96, 04, and 06. I smoked 1/2 to 1 pack a day, all kinds of non-menthol brands. I miss it more than anything...

Newly raised prices on cigarettes are seen in a tobacco shop in New York April 1, 2009

Back in 1970, when I started smoking, cigarettes were 35 cents a pack.

I remember back in '86 when I was in the Navy on our ship we had a snack machine with cigs and they were 75 cents.

I guess this high price has made all the smoking related diseases slam dunk down since then.

Most people are just gonna keep paying for them no matter how high they get. My mom complained back in May when they went to around 5 dollars a pack, quit for a week or two on the patch, and went back to them. That was one of the appeals of snus for me, way cheaper.

Just think if snus was 10 bucks a can. I don't believe I'd continue.

I would. One can lasts me three days (especially at $10 a can  )

So $3.33 a day, still way cheaper than cigarettes.

Yep. If I just used one can only, it would last me 4-5 days.

A can of portions lasts me 3 days, a can of lössnus lasts me 5 days. $10 snus would still be a bargain compared to my former 2-3 pack a day habit.

I am not going to worry about $10 snus. Long before that ever happens I'll be making my own. 8)

was 3 packs a day, the snus is definitely a cheaper way to go. here's a good clip about what they throw in cigs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkTMx-1G0RQ

I smoked a pack of Marlboro lights a day for nearly 15 years.

Oh and I quit for good about two months ago when I finally gave in to the snus. For a little while I used snus and smoked. But like Sage says "the snus takes over".
