    Kardus??

    http://www.northerner.com/html/snslswm8861.html

According to buysnus you cannot currently get Kardus snus, but it is still shown on northerner... Has anyone recently ordered Kardus and received it? or is this just an old link? :?

I would really like to try this 'super premium' snus.

I wondered too about Kardus, and I contacted Northerner about it because they advertise on their web site. They replied to me that "we will attend to it a soon as possible" What this means, I don't know, maybe they'll just pull the ad and not sell the snus.

Is Kardus a new snus that may not currently be available or is it an older blend that is meant to be discontinued? In other words, should we be looking forward to it or be disappointed that it's no longer in production?

As far as I know, it was taken off the market. Apparently there is going to be a special once a year release of the stuff in limited quantities. But, perhaps someone knows better than I.

Kardus was launched in 2004 as a supreme snus - the game was that Swedish Match let their snus masters go crazy, spare no expense, and make the best damned snus they could. It was a plain-tobacco snus which was long cut (not ground like other snus) so it looked a bit more like cope than snus, but with amazing snus flavour.

It was only available as a special, limited edition batch and you got a deep, 100g tub in a stylish box for about $50US. With it came a photo-booklet (in Swedish) explaining the painstaking process of handmaking Kardus, as well a a hefty stainless steel pair of snus-tweezers.

It was very popular and the next year they made a second batch, same limited edition, etc, but soon after also released an everyday Kardus in a normal 50g tin like in the link above which sold for a premium but not insane price. The quality of the everyday Kardus was very similar to the luxury Kardus, but was a bit finer cut and was maybe a 90% awesome instead of 99% awesome version (if that makes any sense...still very good).

They did a 2006 Kardus special limited edition but then discontinued the everyday 50g tins simply due to lack of sales. I think many tried it but few made it a regular snus. I didn't notice if they did a limited edition for 2007 or not, (it may be coming out soon, actually), but it's definitely worth a try if you've got cash to spare on a "fine scotch" grade of snus. Mine kept nicely for several months in the box it came in, which sealed quite well. I always kept it in the fridge because the box was about the size of 10CDs in cases stacked up, so that helped extend its life for special occasions.

The taste is very much a totally pure tobacco, all hand picked and very complex in character. Sort of a peaty undertone with nuances of fresh hay and caramel, if caramel was totally un-sweet (also, if that makes any sense...). Totally the king of snus - something I would break out if King Gustav dropped by for billiards and cognac 8)

Wow... that looks tasty. They should release it around the holidays. Like you said, screw the price for every day, but I know what I'd want for a gift!

Seeing that picture makes it look even more tasty! I would definitely find a way to cough up the cash should it come available to those of us not in sweden.

From the picture Zero posted it looks like a pair of tweasers and a baking tool so you don't have to touch the snus to prepare it for your mouth :P

All I know is, I want some Kardus... it's like the holy grail of snus, and I can't get any

We should all write to Swedish Match to encourage them to produce another batch. Hell, if they only make 4,000 rolls of the stuff, if they knew 10-20 people from all over the world were interested, particularly new users in the American market, they might just consider it.

I actually emailed Swedish Match, Northerner and BuySnus hoping to maybe hear some kind of reply about maybe a release date for the 2007 batch, and who might be carrying it.

Yep. Mine didn't come with that cup-looking thing, mind you, just the big fat steel tweezers. Maybe it was an older edition that had the baking tool as well.

Got this response from Swedish Match on my Kardus inquiry:

"Sorry but we have no information about having Kardus back in our sortiment."
