Keep in mind that the manufacturing-process and the ingredients of cigarettes also are unknown to anyone who is not working directly in the production of the single cigarette-company, and cigarettes certainly aren't just a "natural" product, in fact they can be called designer drugs due to the addiction-enhancing and pain-killing substances used. There are first attempts to make cigarette-additives public and it's no fun to read, and I'm not talking about the well known bogus-propaganda-nonsense (like the atomic waste or battery-acid or fibreglass - fairytailes told to keep children from smoking or dipping).
On the other hand, the most documented tobacco product of them all, snus, which only contains food-approved ingredients, is banned in the EU, while cigarettes are free for sale. You can hope, but you shouldn't expect that it will work out any better with the PACT-Act in the US, especially since it's all about tax-money and not about health.
The only thing that kept the EU from a total snus-ban until now is the fact that Sweden is a member of the EU, so we can import our snus hassle-free, including Swedish taxes which then to some extent are used to finance the EU.
Now what will keep the US-government from a total ban on snus? Of course, the US-government could tax snus, but why should they do so? They already get calculable cigarette tax-revenues from nicotine-addicts, why should they experiment with a healthier alternative?
I'd hope for the best but expect the worst. Modern politics aren't humane anymore.
Cheers!
