So this last administration, seeing what was happening with immigration issues, did NOTHING to go after businesses that were doing the hiring, enforcement actions by the Dept. of Justice dropped something like 80% compared with the Clinton administration, but made up shit so we could invade a completely different country that posed no threat to us.

The fact that after 9/11 the border has never been sealed proves all the homeland security/patriot act BS is just that - BS.

I think many things were personal with Bush and had very little to do with politics. He had many Mexican friends and also some Mexican relatives, and he was a good friend of Vicente Fox. He genuinely didn't want to close the border which was very strange coming from a conservative president.

Yeah, this doesn't seem like a big deal unless you're ordering General WG or General from getsnus. Those, as far as I know, are the only snus packaged in the US, and therefore the only ones that would be taxed under this increase. Remember, you've never paid a tax on snus before, what makes you think it will be included now?

Although I don't live in Canada, I have seen quite a few people on here mention their snus orders from oversees have been held until tax was paid on them. I don't see this being a Canadian occurance for much longer.

Luckily, snus is considered snuff, and is on the lighter side of those tax hikes. It still annoys me, though, considering that there is no defense of tobacco. Anytime the gov wants more tax revenue, the first thing to the table is always tobacco, since you are branded "in the pocket of big, evil tobacco" if you try to say the hikes are unjust. The gov can go to bed happy at night thinking that they are "showing tobacco users the way to quit, and saying lives" by making tobacco more and more expensive.

However, I do not mind paying a bit more to help the United States move toward providing more healthcare for its citizens.

Feel free to send as much money to the feds as you like, you don't have to wait until tax time, but please don't encourage them to continue reaching in my pocket for it. I have enough trouble keeping up now.

I heard they were also going to restrict internet purchases of tobacco in America. So this is the one of the big changes promised by your new mr president.

Funny though it is that in the UK when we get our tax budgets announced it is normally Pipe Tobacco that never gets much of a hike in tax. Me thinks a lot of the UK MP's are pipers "more shag or ready rubbed my right honorable gentlman"

In the proposed bill to stop the sale of tobacco over the net cigars are the least taxed. Just as your cheeky parliament likes pipes our bloody senators like cigars.

If they plan on restricting sale or purchase of tobacco over the Internet, that should still not apply to buying from Northerner or BuySnus correct as their sites are in foreign countries and I would think should not be able to be restricted by the US laws correct?

I think I'm starting to feel Sagedil's influence for buying overseas.

technically you cant place restrictions from buying on the internet...though you might be able to increase taxes on tobacco products coming in..but only if they found them...i think its bs

It doesn't matter where the physical store is. When they fine the banks for processing the funds they stop the sales.

That's how they plan on stopping internet gambling. Same practice can be applied to anything.

How in the hell is my bank gonna know I bought snus from Northerner, and not the very cool Skåne nubuck clogs. Somehow I don't think the feds are gonna make every on-line store report to banks WHAT we are purchasing.
