    Suggestions for next order?

    ~~
Hey all, I'm looking for suggestions on other brands to try out next time I order.

Some background: I've smoked menthol (Newports, then Marlboro Menthol Lights) cigarettes for around 15 years with frequent non-menthol mixed in once in awhile (usually Camels or Marbloro Reds and No. 27's). I'd say for every 3-5 packs of menthol, I'd switch it up with 1 pack of non. Quit about 5 times knocking off about 2 years of that total. When i've used dip, which has weened me off of cigarettes, it's almost always wintergreen (Grizzly usually).

What I'm looking for is a main brand of, probably, menthol or citrus flavored snus, with some off-brand single cans of other stuff once in awhile. I have yet to try any licorice or other un-familiar tastes.

    My first order, all portions:
    Catch Eucalyptus - Liked it
Wise Menthol/Citrus - GREAT flavor, but far too weak
General Sterk - Not liking the flavor from this much, but it's not BAD

My current order (on it's way:
Catch White Licorice Portion - Like the first Catch I had
Elixyr Power Energy portion - Since read this is pretty bad
Jakobssons Ice-Fruit Snus - Sounded good!
Mocca Plus Eucalyptus (STRONG) - Strong mini
Mocca Pomegranate - Unusal flavor description
Offroad - American Wintergreen Portion - wintergreen caught me
Röda Lacket White Portion - I had to order that cool tin :P
Skruf Portion - Popular here, giving it a shot

Any other suggestions for someone with what tastes I've described?

Jakobssons Ice-Fruit Snus - Not terrible, but not my thing
Mocca Plus Eucalyptus (STRONG) - Haven't had it
Mocca Pomegranate - I like the flavor, but I'm not into minis
Offroad - American Wintergreen Portion - Haven't had it
Röda Lacket White Portion - I used to like it, but grew tired of it
Skruf Portion - I just got some Skruf original and I like it, but not as much as Skruf Stark

If you want a really rich citrus flavor, and don't mind paying a little more then try General Onyx. General Wintergreen is slightly sweet, and very wintergreen flavored. The Icefruit has an underlying menthol flavor, but basically tastes like Apple Jacks cereal otherwise. I've gotten away from the heavily flavored snus in favor of brands like General, Skruf, Nick and Johnny, and Ettan.

My advice that I give to everyone is to finish two cans of any kind before buying a roll. I find that I can go through one can of a new flavor fairly quickly. Then by the second can I decide whether or not I want to keep buying it.

I have never tried mini portions before. I prefer sterk portions and find General Ekstra Sterk and Roda Lacket Claq Qui to be my favorites of the two. I have yet to try the non-stark Skruf portions, but I've heard they are all pretty good. Also, try Lucky Strike and Pall Mall; they are highly recommended and I'm throwing in a can of each with my next order.

        Tristik, welcome to the forum.

You have a different taste palate then me, so I am not going to make any suggestions. the funnest part for a new snus user is juts trying as much as you can and seeing what you like.

But being the official Snuson spokesperson for Elyxr Power, let me give you some advanced warnings and advice. For many people, the taste can be VERY off putting. Some say it even tastes nasty. This is NOT a snus you use for the taste. It exists because of what it does for you.

Even if I completely gave up snus. I doubt I would ever give up my Elyxr. I use one or two each morning and have never found something as effective at getting me woken up and functional. Sure, I could just make a cup of coffee, but I simply do not have that time or patience in the morning, especially if I have not had any caffeine. I suppose an energy drink might work. But at $2 per can, compared to the $0.15 per portion I spend on the Elyxr, the math just doesn't make sense

So.....if you are using the Elyxr just like any other snus, I am sure you will find it horrific. But if you are using it BECAUSE of what it does for you, you will be able to tolerate it. Use it enough ( I am at least 9 months in with it), the taste becomes more bearable. I won't quite say I love the taste now, but it IS a old reliable friend for me now.

Or you could spend some cash and get a programmable coffee maker. Every morning when I wake up at 5:45 a fresh pot is still steaming waiting for me.

Umm, still time spent pouring, making it right, and drinking it. I literally roll out of bed, grab my Elyxr, hit the shower and am out the door in about 10 minutes.

Trust me, I do love my coffee. Usually the first thing I do when I hit the office. And go out for coffee most nights.

Besides, the Elyxr has more than just caffeine. The mix they have is the most perfect mix I have ever found for making me feel good REALLY fast in the morning. And cheaper than home coffee as well.

Thanks for the advice all. Especially the 'try two cans before buying a log". I can see the intelligence in that. I've had some chew flavors that were AWESOME. Once you got to the end of the can though, you couldn't stand it anymore (I'm looking at you berry flavored Skoal).

I'm also going to be trying 2-3 cans of los next time for when I'm at home, so any further suggestions on the los side of things are also appreciated.

Not dropping the 40 bucks on an icetool right off the bat, so don't suggest it. :P Since I'm only going to los when I am at home, I'm going to be practicing my hand baking. After trying what I order, I'll decide if the experience warrants buying more los. If it does, I'll definitely be getting an icetool.

Funny, out of my 1st order my favorite turned out to be the freebie can of General Sterk. I didn't like it on 1st try but went back to it a couple days later and decided this stuff is GOOD!

I like Ice fruit but couldn't do it all day. This cans almost gone and I'll wait a while before I open the other. The other that I can see buying on a regular basis is Rape #2. The berry flavor is very evident as soon as it hits my lip and its a nice fresh authentic flavor as opposed to Skoal "WildBerry". :x

I can't stand the Catch Licorice. Threw the can away before finishing it. My favorite licorice snus so far is Off Road loose. If you want to get into loose snus but don't want to drop the $50 bucks on a Ice Tool get a Pris Master for something like $3 bucks. That is what I use and it works just fine. I have to shape the portion some before putting it in but thats cool.

I think you might really like the Elixyr Pepparmint which is one of the most menthol snuses I've ever tried. Like all the Elixyr range the tobacco quality is pretty bad - but this one has so much mintiness you hardly notice!

snus is great- but if you really miss the menthol you ought to consider trying mentholated nasal snuff. menthol as a flavor is one thing, but as an effect is a bit different.

                            or cough drops...

but you're on the right track with snus

Well, it's not just menthol, but minty stuff in general. The Catch Eucalyptus i had does the trick well. When you first put it in, the menthol-like "burn" or feeling you get is an immediate kind of satisfaction that subsides once the nic starts flowing. I like how that works. The mint/menthol immediate kick to let you know it's there, then it subsides significantly after 5 minutes or so.

Headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, Fielder & Lundgren is probably the oldest snus manufacturing name in Sweden. Started as a company in 1835, F & L's history has been full of name changes but one thing that has stayed consistent thru out it's 175 year existence, is it's commitment to producing quality Swedish snus.

Even though the company was started in 1835, it was Samuel Fielder who applied for permission to manufacture snus in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1785. Today, Fielder & Lundgren produces
