First..........Jan................good to see you back and posting............I hope all is well
Second..........this whole thing is sheer insanity
The illogic and utter lack of moral center that pervades so many of the would be social crusaders of our day utterly baffles me.
It is the feminization of society.....................while conversely.........the family unit becomes progressively more violent

If the EU ban these things and Sweden stays in with no exemption - no Swedish made snus will be able to contain the current flavourings and so will disappear. I can't see that happening really.
For us in the rest of the EU - it probably means no snus at all ever again ... unless we make it ourselves.
:-(
I really hope Swedish politicians do what they can to stop it. It said in the article that all swedish members of the EU parliament will vote against it but I'm not so sure.
Here in Sweden politicians and others in authority seem to think all tobacco is bad. That it isn't better to use snus instead of smoking.
An example of this is that when they raise the taxes on cigarettes they also raise it on snus. That's why the snus-prices are so high here now.
The only things the politicians care about is getting elected and getting tax money. An honest politician would promote snus (in Sweden) as a safer alternativ to smoking but I haven't seen it yet.
That Sweden got to keep snus when we joined the EU is because the politicians knew many would vote against EU if was banned.
So to keep getting tax money from snusers, get re-elected, keeping people in the snus industry employed etc are the only things that could motivate our politicians to stop this new law.

Originally posted by JanI second that... they will never ban the import of havana cigars but somehow I am absolutely sure they will ban whatever smokeless tobacco they can find... snuff, nasal snuff, snus of course.. but let's hope the above mentioned measure never gets taken. Sweden leaving the EU won't be much of a help to us. Imagine having to smuggle somehow a roll of snus though EU customes.. won't be easy if snus is banned...

Originally posted by precious007that's pretty true what you're saying - but believe me life wasn't as tough as it's spoken today to be -
people were making fortunes back then as well, and legitimately
financially?
My dad was sailing all around the world back then, bought two apartments and raised two kids and a family and yes we afforded two vacations a year.
Whereas now, most people in Romania haven't afforded to go on a vacation for more than 20 years.
physiologically?
you're kidding
people were much happier back then
it's now in the 21st century where more than 30% of the population suffer from depression
you'd be laughed in the face in the 1980's in Romania if you even mentioned you had depression or anxiety -
the only "FREEDOM" you have now is that you have somehow the rights to start a business - but the business in most cases is just a "MIRAGE" ..... you have to deal with high amounts of stress and "protection" taxes to even make it ...............
Communism = Discipline = Security
People don't like discipline that's why most didn't like the communist party.
of course it had the bad sides too
there's too much to discuss on the subject but definitely it was better for everyone under communism (MUCH BETTER)
even the elderly admit it -
everyone had a job under communism and afforded a decent life - now .............. 6+ million work abroad .... why?
because it's better?
:-) lol

Originally posted by precious007profit wise, the rich get richer
the poor get poorer (that's what all systems want, and the rich have the power to do exactly that)
here;s an example - 99% of the people in most countries dont afford to buy houses and cars (they have to go in debt for that)
Rich EU countries have teamed up and sucked in the poorer countries, now all over the EU Banks popped up everywhere where they lend money to people just to make them poorer and poorer - In Romania ou end up paying for a 60K apartment twice the peice (120K) and thats just an example of why the EU has been formed the iluminati are al
l behind these dirty schemes
In Romania in 1960 - 1989 until the revolution (EVERYONE) afforded to buy a large apartment by paying 10% of their monthly salary
now the salary is not enough to buy groceries (YEP THAT's the reality)
that's the story - the EU has been formed to **** everyone up and make them poorer
only a few 5% are rich and that's because they're all influential people and have the power to do anything in their hands
including manipulating laws and so on
In romania the population is 22 million and over 6 million work abroad - imagine the poverty we're all facing ...
the communist party under Ceausescu was seen as a bad thing (yet people were living normal lives)
now most of the people fight for their existence and most of the young people barely afford to have pocket money let alone making their life (buy apartments, cars, raise children and so on)
what is this world coming to? On a large scale in many countries it's happening the same thing -
the laws are made for the rich, the poor even die because they don't afford to cover medical expenses and so on .............. no one is protected in any way by the government.
Living out of $200 - $500 in the EU is pure poverty and no one seemingly doesn't do anything about it -
Last time the people revolted in the center of Bucharest - they were beaten like animals and some of them were even killed by the the police -
I might be a bit rough on this but this is the reality - and it's happening in many of the EU countries and even the better placed ones such as Greece, SPain and Italy.... and many others.......
If you're thinking to open up a business you need to pay upfront 10 - 20K to cover your ass (protection)
for example if you're a lawyer and want to start your own bureau of lawyers you have to pay $500,000 in advance (protection money)
if you want to be a doctor the same thing happens (probably up to $50,000 if not more)
there are people living in the EU with a retirement salary of under $100 (whereas their medication is double that money)
and here's an example of the people that SEEMINGLY are doing very well in Romania by prostitution, money laundry, drugs, selling organs and so on and attention! they're protected by the governement .....why? because they have money....... that's al there is to it -
this monkey is flushing around the room about 500.000 euros in cash whereas I dream to have that money to buy a house and live a normal life.....
we cannot selll snus in Romania but we can sell WOMEN easily
probably 300K hookers are on the streets and over 300,000 women are doing video chat ;-)
life ain't fair is it?

Originally posted by kevinatestI think that the maint thing right now is to get proper media coverage behind snus, to talk it's pros and cons, find a someone famous to be a spokesperson. In Estonia the thing that pulls reputation of snus down is that a lot of underage use it and belive it or not but they sell already used portions to others. Thanks to a massive black market dealing, they sell snus to anyone who has 3.50 eur, despite customer being underage. The first thing is to aknowledge wider public about snus, get as much followers as possible and let the public voice be heard! But right now I see no snus manufacturers to step up and start a wide campaign, ofcourse the best thing would be that all the companies team up and do it together!
Over and out.
