I know its been suggested many times but why don't the snus manufacturers give the EU the middle finger by labelling the exact same product as nasal snuff.

They could easily turn the tables on the politicians by doing just that, there'd be no way of differentiating between snus and moist dark snuff and there's no way they could stop it being used orally. If they were to do that their products would be legal to sell in EU countries and I'm sure their profits would sky rocket.

The only problem I can see with that is some people might actually try to use it like snuff, would that be a problem?

Beautiful! Totally agree. But it seems like this is false alarm:

Google translated site (may be totally crazy):

"Recently, screamed a headline that the EU was thinking prohibit snus in Sweden, "in disguise" (Aftonbladet 19/4). Other media hanging on, politicians of various shades promised to fight for snuff, a responsibility center communications director prophesied a blow for the "whole portfolio", and angry and desperate snuff filled the gaps and comment fields.

First, the evening took an alert journalist contact with those responsible in Brussels to get the facts. The answer? No, there is no decision, not even a suggestion, that "sly way" prohibit snus in Sweden. They discuss the regulation of additives in tobacco products (mainly cigarettes) of a similar nature that are already in the U.S., where "Swedish" snus, although this is still being sold freely."The data must have its source in Sweden," said EU spokesman politely.
In plain language: it was a homemade canard that splashed in the Swedish dam."

Sköljer mitt ansikte i iskallt vatten.
This is the end of snusande as we know it, som en person på Swedish Match konstaterade, fast på svenska.

We could fight this lunacy with lunacy. We may even get some press coverage and raise the profile of snus. lol

Then I guess it's just my luck that my favorites are Toque Natural Toast, Wilson's #22, and F+T High Dry Toast.

As for pipers, it'll just be time for the aromatic smokers to acquaint themselves with matured Virginias, and good ol' knock-your-socks-off English blends.

Average wage in Romania before joining EU - $300

    Average Wage now - $310.

    Money talks

    - so what's the EU good for?

And if shit hits the fan, at least we can say we did everything we could.
True, at least trying to bring awareness ... but as I said I am realistic person.

You seem to not understand that as long as the Brussels governors are corrupt you can go out by the millions on the streets and be sent home, that's all there is to it.

Lets assume tomorrow I would give your $2mil to quit snus - you would surely do it, wouldn't you?

then that's what happens with the EU, they've received money to keep the snus banned. (otherwise it would have been legal long now)

    Be it a revolution THEN!

We need the snus in EU

Of course lx, dictators such as the ones in Brussels or every other one in the history didn't use logic because they didn't have a logic (paranoia suffering people don't have a logic) they only have delusions - logic is a joke these days whereas everywhere people fight for interest /period

but I firmly belive as long as we all team up and get organized

That's the attitude that won't let us- the snus users, to do anything to help it legalize. I might be a bit too optimistic, but I firmly belive as long as we all team up and get organized, anything could happen. There comes a point when cigarette companies just can't keep paying to EU, once public voice gets too loud. It just needs determination, organizing and balls of steel. Ofcourse just talking here doesn't change anything...

It would be illegal because they said it was illegal. The mistake everyone makes, myself included is attacking the problem using logic. When the logic doesn't add up, we walk away confused. Dictatorships don't use logic. They dictate, and the subjects obey. The only way to win is to stop obeying. That could be civil disobedience, or armed revolution, but logic will never win.
