    Old, discontinued snus brands?

I think that most people here know about the recent pruning of certain snus brands such as Diplomat and Nick & Johnny Lös - and the general consensus is that it's a bad thing.

And being a nosey kind of person I did a quick search on the net to see if there were any old historic brands that I'd never had a chance to try (I only first heard about snus a year ago) and came up with a couple of interesting pages:

http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-11273/snus.htm has a selection of pictures of tantalising names lseemingly all from the Swedish Match stable.

and http://www.tobakshistoria.com/ looks like it has the most content about all swedish tobacco products although you have to kind of half-guess the Swedish if you don't speak it but you can see plenty of great old pictures.

It looks like Swedish Match dropped loads of old classic loose snuses between the end of the nineties until 2005. I hate it when old flavours are allowed to die out because they are no longer very profitable. Did any of the old hands here ever taste any of the lost ones and what were they like? What do you think the chances of existing products like Göteborgs Prima Fint have of making it into another decade over such novelties as Nick & Johnny East White Portions?

RIP: Nick & Johnny Lös, Rallarsnus, Mörkbrunt Snus, Svenskt Exportsnus, Karlskrona, Stjärnsnus, Hawken etc.

Man, look at these old cans (first link)! I really like how they kept it simple and clean back then. I still don't like the new design on the General line.

The Rallarsnus was quite popular as far as I know - I've heard many good things about it. I would have loved to try it. Heck, I would have loved to try them all. I mean, who wouldn't want to try a snus called Star Snus (Stjärnsnus)?!?!

I like those old tins also. I've found old pictures from the other makers online also, and those old tins just had a certain something that the new ones lack.

Here's some that aren't too old, but gone none the less.

I really miss Metropol Peppermint; there aren't many good peppermint snus to pick from as it is. I regret the fact that I started using loose some time after they got rid of N&J.

I'm guessing General Light is now General Silver??? And the Rallarsnus sounded really good by the description of "an element of new ground coffee. Any coffee snus out there?

Offroad Limited - Coffee Vanilla Portion - Limited snus with a taste of Coffee Vanilla.

I think Catch used to make one as well.

Haven't been impressed with the V2 products. If I liked flavored coffees I'd probably given it a whirl, but I like my coffee black with no sweeteners. Anything like that?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the switch from General Light to General Silver might have to do with the fact that words like Light and Ultralight aren't allowed to be used to describe cigarettes in the EU. I think it might apply for snus too.

I wish I could have tried Rallarsnus, a couple of times I have taken a bit of the Coffee dust from the grinder the real fine poweder and mixed it with Ettan loose, it wasn't that bad actually
