i feel this might bite them in the arse with it not being implemented in the Ky Office(s) and other states as well ... seems like the would probably be firing half their workforce in AZ and may lead to legal defence $$$ being spent.
always a kneejerk reaction... no one ever cares what the employees have to say

Now, there are states that they can't do this in because smokers are a protected class but AZ is not one of them so that's why they are doing it here first. Ironically, Humana is not implementing this at their corporate headquarters in Kentucky. Why? Smokers are a protected class in Kentucky.. (there are quite a few states that also have laws protecting smokers)
Such BS.. What about the the poor guy that enjoys a cigar 1 a week on the golf course. He's screwd as well.. The teat can not determine levels because nicotine can be detected for weeks after use..
PS- I keep saying smokers but this is for ALL tobacco users..
The Clinton administration did a study on this that came to the same conclusions. Can't find it now, but most of the anti-tobacco crowd likes to pretend it does not exist.

Guess im lucky to have had atleast 2 employers that thought this way

Several recent hiring practices annoy me.
Not hiring people based on what they legally do in their free time is infuriating.
The other one personally got me one time. For a job where there was no contact with money, no books to do, I was turned down because I had a poor credit score. The basis of their argument was that people with a poor credit score are more likely to steal, are likely to be lazy, and have poor work ethics. The job... driving a forklift in a warehouse. I almost sued. I mean how can you improve you're credit score if you can't be hired because you have a poor credit score? Ridiculous.
As for Humana, they will likely be sued by someone who was taking an OTC NTR treatment or something to help them quit.
I wonder though if they will be screening by optimum weight in the near future? Or better yet... "Mrs. Johnson, uhm yeah we can't hire you, your swab tested positive for a Big Mac and Fries"

It's like they are creating a permenate sub-class.. It's a catch 22.. You need the job to fix your credit but you can't get a job because of your credit... Some of these same companies are the ones responsible for all the job losses!! Then, they take our tax money to save themselves and turn around and wont hire the very same people they laid off and put in this position...
Everytime you put a pro big business politician in office it's another nail in the average joes life..
