    I don't get it..

Since that Claq Qui contest came up I decided to pull my solo can out of the freezer I got a few months ago and give it a shot.. Wow it's really good. Got a great flavor I'd buy a roll no hesitation.. What I don't get is how the hell Claq Qui wasn't successfull and they are still making General Wintergreen????? Good lord that stuff is horrid.

The only reason that any product is pulled from circulation is poor sales. Or at least sales that are below a manufacturer's projections or needs. Whatever any one of us thinks of Gen. WG it sells up to SM's satisfaction. Pure capltalism baby.

Fight Club was a great snus. Unfortunately SM needed the machines used to produce it to introduce General rehash #112.

gen wintergreen is a staple in the brick and motar stores. with only like five flavors distributed in the US if they pulled one it would piss off too many people that are used to only finding those five flavors. Besides, the store owners would freak out at the thought of a change in menu. We're freakin lucky they donate any space to swedish snus.

claq qui was a decent snus. I might even have a roll in the freezer. I know I bought a roll and only used a tin. And I don't remember selling it yet. I'll check tomorrow. if I remember.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I don't think SM gives brands enough time to gain a following. If something isn't selling in a year, it gets the axe. It takes longer than that to build brand loyalty, especially with the advertising restrictions put on tobacco.

Same reason they cancel Reaper but Bachelor is still on the air... life doesn't make sense sometimes.

I suppose what I should have said was that I will never understand SM's decision to promote and really push other garbage flavors, and let this one die on the vine. I hear it didn't sell very well in Sweden and that was the reason. I would like to see them release this as a new brand in the U.S, but I'm not holding my breath, lol

I understand about what sells stays and what doesn't goes.. It's just the wintergreen is horrible just suprised people actually buy it after trying it once. That there's an actual demand for it. In any event I was glad to try the claq one cans worth at least. I need to try the click I ordered before they discontinue it lol and get My hands on some of that ocean and jagmannspris whatever it is.

Most snusers in sweden dont really try anything new.. Just continue with what they always have used.. As for me, the most special snus ive tried while i was living in sweden was Catch licorice. when i first checked out buysnus i did not know half the brands that is for sale..
And one thing is that in general stores, petrol stations and such almost only sell the "normal" stuff from SM. and only the biggest brands as ettan grov general etc. so most snusers dont even know of the other brands which ofcourse leads to bad sales..

Much the same as cigarettes over here. People stick to their brand, and only really try something different if they are offered something different by someone else. When I smoked, the only time I'd buy something that wasn't a regular brand was if I couldn't get my usual. It was rare that I'd then change allegiance.

Interesting that the online stores have brands you've never heard of though - I'd always assumed that the snus fridges in your stores would have as wide a range as cigarette displays do over here.

Having not smoked regularly for 5 years, when I do occasionally buy cigarettes, I'm a bit overawed by the selection available and the new brands available, but I would never buy a brand I wasn't familiar with. I guess that's the same for snus users in Sweden.

Really? I'm amazed that all the brands that used to be around, no longer are. My experience is limited to convenience stores, but it's shocking to me how many brands aren't being sold. Here's the big lists, but I'm missing generics, and probably a couple others...

                          Marlboro
                          Camel
                          Winston
                          Kool
                          Salem
                          Newport

Where's the rest of them? Bel Air, Lark, Lucky Strike, Chesterfield, True...

It sounds like Sweden is similar with their snus. You have to go to a specialiset to get the full selection.

We have different brands in the UK than the US. We have Camel, Marlboro and Luckys, sometimes Winston and Chesterfield, but that's it.

In the last few years there's been a surge in popularity of budget brands, and lighter and ultra-light variations of existing brands. Other brands have rebranded as budget, with various strength variations of them all.

We even have a budget range of Marlboro called Marlboro Bright Leaf, that is only available here, designed for the UK market by Marlboro. I've had them, and they don't taste much different to regular marlboros, but they're abut 20% cheaper for a pack.

Funniest thing about British cigs is that all the budget brands are named after expensive/classy locations. Mayfair, Richmond, Windsor, etc.
