There's nothing worse than being at the mercy of people who don't know WTF they're doing. Stick up for your rights and be a royal pain in their butts if they don't take really good care of you!

I was put into a freezing cold room in the winter, with peeling paint and an emergency buzzer that either didn't work, or they were ignoring it because I didn't have any health insurance. The plumbing in my bathroom didn't work, either, so I had to hobble down the hallways of the hospital just to pee. When I started bleeding profusely from my incision, I kept ringing the emergency buzzer for help, but no one ever came to my hospital room. Finally, freezing to death in a hospital bed covered in blood, I grabbed a towel, pressed it over my bleeding incision, and walked the halls of the hospital looking for someone, anyone, who might be able to help me. I got yelled at by the nurse I found, who told me I shouldn't be walking around the halls like that! Groan...

PS: Hang in there Eric, you'll be home soon!
I was only in the hospital once overnight but the hospital was very good, staff were excellent. Almost too attentive in fact. I have a habit of getting tachycardia in the morning when I get out of bed (don't know why, nothing's wrong with me). It goes away quickly but the morning I woke up and got out of bed and my heart started racing I had 3 nurses come rushing into my room telling me to sit down and relax, etc. LOL

I agree. It's a teaching hospital, so teach them to learn some proper procedure and bedside manor.

Eric, happy that you're OK and still snussing!

I don't want to publicly post the name of the hospital where I had that horrible experience, because they would up giving me a break on my medical bills after I wrote them a letter about what happened to me. I figure I owe them that much, but it never should have happened in the first place and I paid all my bills with payment plans.

Hope you are home soon! Let us know when you get outta there and take care

                        Fair enough Dreed, I understand..

Update. I got the diagnosis.. I have Chron's disease/IBS.. Not too thrilled but at least I know what it is and I'm getting medication for it. I remember the days when I was in my teens/20s and "indistructable".. I miss those days. I'm being released this afternoon so at least I'll get one day in at work. This is realy hurting me financially. I asked a few people who I've lent money before for help and they gave me excuses. Figures. On the snus side I had my wife bring an extra can so I've been enjoying my snus the whole time.

Damn man. Well hope everything gets better for you and you get all the treatments and meds you might need. Ask for a little extra, to keep the edge off. :P

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Eric, but at least now you know what the problem is, which must be a relief. And you're right, Crohn's disease is manageable with proper diet and medication.

I read medical and scientific journals every working day as part of my job, so I can tell you that there is some very interesting research going on right now that hopefully will result in new and better treatments, and eventually, a cure. Hang in there, bud, we're all rooting for ya.
