Question for ex smokers about smoke?

So Ive been snusing for almost a year now come July, and have been smokefree except for one pack I bought in October. When I smoked, smoke never bothered me. Even when I was a kid I used to like the way smoke smelled when I rode with my grandfather in his truck. I used to go to bars all the time and see shows and party or whatever, and here in Mobile county you can still smoke in bars and restaurants, almost all of them.

Anyways.... These days I can't stand the cigarette smoke, It smells terrible to me and gives me a headache. Bad for my love of live shows, good for my clothes. I went to a casino last weekend in Biloxi and almost couldn't take the smoke. Everywhere i looked everyone was smoking. EVERYONE!!! They should have had those cocktail waitresses passing out General or something. Does this bother you guys and gals as much as it does me?

    Never liked the smell.

My dad's been smoking forever and it's always been terrible to me. However I did used to have a cig every once in awhile.

The smoke smell doesn't bother me, but I have a super-human ability to smell it now - like if someone is 50 yards away, outside, I can smell it.

It's kind of a lame super power... I'd always hoped for x-ray vision.

I quit 19 months ago. The smell doesn't bother me. There are limits though, if I walk into a room and there's a cloud of smoke, then it bothers me.

Smoke itself doesn't bother me so much, it's the stale smell of smoke clinging to clothes, on people's breath and in their cars that bothers me now. I now feel bad about smelling that way for so long around non smoking friends and family. Fresh smoke is ok, still makes me want one on occasion but so far I've resisted it pretty well.

Can't say I like the smell, but it doesn't really bother me, as also, I'm not around it much, unless I'm doing it myself. Seems every place is smoke free these days, so I'm just never around it much.

Too soon for me to say -- I'm still smoking one or two a day. But I do notice the smell more -- in fact, I notice all smells more.

Yep... since I quit, I can't stand the smell... especially when eating. One bummer is going to bars... I can't stand smoke filled bars anymore! They never use to bother me when I smoked... but now... yeeeeeeeeee! Some of the bars I frequent has so much smoke in the air it's like having a cigarette... needless to say, I no longer have any bar bills

I have the same super power as danielan.... I can smell them from 50 yards away, outside with my door closed and a fan on. LMAO

I can honestly say, that yes the smell gets to me now (and I grew up around smokers also) but I would never dare say anything to anyone who was smoking. I would feel like a complete hypocrite. I was always a self-loathing smoker, so I always tried not to bother others but when you smoke you are bound to assault somebody's sense of smell.

I haven't found a snuff I don't like yet... it is a slightly different smell to me. The American snuffs remind me of my grandfather's car from when I was a kid. His was a combination of cheap cigars, pipe tobacco and probably one of those pine tree shaped air fresheners... for some reason that brings back fond memories... it's something about my girlfriends car/clothes with the cigarette smell. Not sure how that works, but I'm ok with the snuff.

LMAO, yeah I can smell it a mile away...it's crazy. It doesn't bother me to be around someone smoking, or in a smoke filled room. However, if someone walks by me and their clothing stinks of cigarette smoke, that is offputting. It's amazing to me that I used to stink like that too, lol.

Funny story...I opened an old box of clothing (clean clothing mind you), and it smelled HORRIBLE....I just closed the box and asked my wife to wash them before putting them away, lol.

I'm rarely around smoke anymore, but I can't stand it when I am. I, too, can smell it from a mile away.

Doesn't bother me. I used to get my room pretty much fogged out, so maybe that plays a role in it. Still, I've got some sort of mental image of a pub as a smoked out room full of people drinking beer, playing pool/darts, and acting like idiots, so I kind of miss the smoke there.
