Snus and meds

Silly question maybe, but swallowing the juice, makes me wonder...
Had a small surgery yesterday, have to take antibiotics for awhile, anybody ever had an issue with snus messing with medicine?

Depends on where the surgery was.

New to snus but a 30year Cope fiend, I've never had problems with
post-surgical use. It may be a bad idea if the surgery was gastro-intestinal.

I have put cope on a nasty cut to stop the bleeding and it worked pretty good tho' the ensuing scab was not one for the weak of stomach. Nicotine has some health benefits and is why tobacco has been used in the past by herbalists. Primarily for anxiety. I've been told that you can feed copenhagen to a dog to kill worms but I don't buy it. Probably kill the dog in the process.

So I say snus away and enjoy the mellowing buzz.

Agree with Bat.

As long as you aren't directly irritating anything. (IE, the surgery was to your mouth, throat, etc), don't stress it. The snus won't interact with the antibiotics, or any pain meds you are taking post-surgery

Never thought about it with smoking, but switching to snus, it's a whole new ball game for me, I'm sure this wont be the last goofy question.

Nicotine will cause your blood vessels to constrict and retard healing time for wounds, but Ive never had any real problems like dying or anything. I did get a dry socket once.

Theoretically, nicotine can increase healing time, but I'm not sure if that's actually been studied outside of cigarette smokers. I don't see any way that snus could interact with an antibiotic or any other drug other than perhaps an MAOI or something that affected blood pressure.

If you have a tolerance, it isn't going to affect other drugs much if at all. Of course, mixing stimulants prescriptions with nicotine will potentiate its effects, but not very much considering how mild of a stimulant nicotine is.
