I suspect the high pH of Swedish Match products is the cause of the stinging. My suggestion is to try a different brand (phantom classic?)

Their use of cardboard cans means the lös dries out faster, just make it a habit of adding a few drops of water and shake (pack) the can to distribute the water as needed.
