Ya i'm just to impatient is what it comes down too with brushing. Also, are auto toothbrushes worse or better for the teeth. I recieved one for christmas but haven't used it yet. If anyone uses one I will want to know.
Should I worry about my mouth and upper lip?

I don't know of any official studies, but I think they're well regarded by users and dentists.Originally posted by Damicom3Also, are auto toothbrushes worse or better for the teeth. I recieved one for christmas but haven't used it yet. If anyone uses one I will want to know.

Yup, like all smokeless tobacco, the salt will pickle up your lip and there will be some getting used to because you're putting a foreign object in your mouth for prolonged period of time.Is it normal for my gums to be sore when first starting to snus?
You should be flossing and properly brushing your teeth regardless of snus or not. There are plenty of online "proper" steps and toothpast/floss/wash reviews out there. give them a glance. Look up you specific problem and see if you can't give that a little fix.I already have an acute case of gingivitis from not brushing hard enough, will snus drastically change the health of my gums or can this be counteracted by flossing and all that fun stuff?
ALL oral and smoked tobacco products will discolor teeth. But that can be remedied by properly mouth and tooth care. Brushing, flossing, eating habit, mouthwash, etc. Expect some staining but can also be fixed and taken care of.Also, how much teeth discoloration should I expect? I use whitening toothpaste if that means anything lol. Thanks.
I have an auto tooth brush, just your standard crest rotating bristle one. Sure more movement against yor teeth will help clean them better and faster. Just don't grind down on your teeth for too long with it. I still prefer a good ol...... *runs to the bathroom* "REACH tooth and gum" soft bristle brush.

Dunno if I've had the chance to say welcome yet, so Welcome to SnusOn!Originally posted by sagedilI have been using for 3 years with NO gum or teeth issues. I use whites so no real discoloring either. Using regulars, some folks have reported some issues, but a good whitening toothpaste takes care of that.
Also, I've been using snus nowhere near as long as Sage, roughly about 9 or 10 months, and no discoloration issues or gum issues. If anything, teeth and breath have gotten better due to quitting smoking (even my dentist noticed it!)

Funny you should say that. Think of it as a swimming pool or fish tank. There's a reason why we need a PH balancer for those things because one way too much will cause bacteria growth, the other will cause scale. But there is alot of stuff on the interwebs regarding body PH balancing as well. Couple of the sites I've seen claim the happy number is between 6.4-7.5 in your saliva and urine. And actually higher PH balance has their own set of problems, just as a lower PH.

Just a quick glance. I think they're trying to sell something so take it with a grain of salt. Nothing to fully get into unless you're a super ultimate health freak. But if what you say is true, I'd also figure the snus companies would be WAYYY more promoting of that theory.

What kind of snus are you using?Originally posted by GrassRabbit View PostHey my name is Jason and i also stoped smoking about a week ago and started using the snus packets and low and behold CANKERS anout 11 or 12 of em in my lower lip OUCH but i hear that it just takes some geting used to that they will go away so i hope they are right. Camel and Marlboro are terribly dry and could easily irritate the gums.

I use this! :POriginally posted by Curtisp View PostGuys, highly recommend that new Crest 3D White, oral rinse. No alcohol, use it after you brush twice a day, really works great at removing that brown haze that can come with snusing. Also, toughens up gums and helps prevent gingivitis.. FWIW.

I've been snus'ing for about 4 months and never had a problem with sores or anything until recently.
I've been using lös pretty exclusivley at home for about a month and the last couple days, I've noticed my left upper gum has a sore, burning feeling when I put in my lös. It usually goes away after it's been in my lip a bit. Tonight I noticed I have a sore that looks like a small hole in my left upper gum.
I always use lös on my left upper side. I'm assuming I got a sore because I've been using lös a lot more lately. Should I just stick with portions for a few days?

Start switching sides. I switch sides and I still get some tenderness sometimes. Los and white portions are the worst. However I use low 98% of the time if not more. Same thing happened to me around that time frame of using loose. Coarser ground loose can be baked too tight or big and cause that over time. I remember burning out both sides at one point because I switch sides. The problem stopped for me after a while.Originally posted by myuserid View PostI've been snus'ing for about 4 months and never had a problem with sores or anything until recently.
