Had a similar experience with yours. I was chain snusing one day and found my gums extremely sore the next. Ended up laying off for a couple days before snusing again. Keep switching to different parts of your mouth, use your lower lip if you need to, and try not to keep it in the same spot for too long when you start out. After a while you won't have any issues, unless you keep using the same part of your mouth.
Should I worry about my mouth and upper lip?

I'd recommend avoiding the sore areas until they heal. If they get any worse, or if you're concerned, see a doctor or dentist. I would recommend that you take the portions out sooner. You absorb most of the nicotine within 20 minutes of having the portion in, so leave it in for 30 mins at most for now. Then, wait at least half an hour, maybe an hour, until you're ready for another one. Put it in on the opposite side. That should give your gums more of a rest between portions. Hope that you heal soon.

yah they could be considered a canker like sore...i don't think i ever had them before.
i stopped yesterday and the boil is down and hurts just a wee bit.
i'm gonna try the roda lacket when it comes in hopefully today.
this just gave me another excuse to keep smoking...problem is i now can't quench my thirst for the cigs now like never before.
but yes you cant even see the sore after 24 hours

I've gotten canker sores since I was a child about twice a year, they suck. Get topical lidocaine, it's a savior.
iIf you're suspeptible to canker sores, any major change in what goes in your mouth can cause them. It happened when I hadn't had alcohol for more than a week, it happened when I ate steak at christmas(usually eat vegetarian), and it happened when I started snusing. I was told it has something to do with the pH of your mouth, which self-adjusts to your routine, but if it's not used to something new or you go without something it can cause sores.

As a long time smokeless tobacco user even before discovering snus, I have had my share of oral sores. Here are things that have seemed to work for me:
1) Up your vitamin E and C intake. I normally take one multi-vitamin daily. If I get a sore spot I add C and E in the evening (I take the Multi in the morning). Generally it clears up in two days.
2) Use mouthwash in addition to brushing. I do not use anything with hydrogen peroxide, as my dentist cautioned that HP and tobacco increases cancer risk. I use listerine instead and that seems to help.
3) Orabase with steriod. You can get orabse over the counter either plain or with lidocaine. I recommend getting a prescription from your dentist for orabase with steroids. For me, it will heal a canker sore in less than half the time it would heal naturally.

pbug, you mentioned you were using Camel Frost. That's the problem. That was my first brand and they burned the piss outta me by like the 2nd day. It's a good flavor but it's stronger and harsher than anything I've ever had. The Mellow tastes good enough, not nearly as harsh, and gets the job done for me (if I double barrel it.)
Once I moved on to Ettan, General, Catch etc...had no problems with soreness. I'm happier than Rosie O'Donnell at a country buffet.

Snus Health
Hi i've been using several different tobacco products over the years and I recently stumbled upon snus. I just have a few questions.
Is it normal for my gums to be sore when first starting to snus?
I already have an acute case of gingivitis from not brushing hard enough, will snus drastically change the health of my gums or can this be counteracted by flossing and all that fun stuff?
Also, how much teeth discoloration should I expect? I use whitening toothpaste if that means anything lol. Thanks.

First, welcome to Snuson Damicom3
Yeah, a little gum soreness is normal for the first week or two as your body gets used to the portions. Are you using regular or white?? White probably a bit more, as they can be a bit courser.
I have been using for 3 years with NO gum or teeth issues. I use whites so no real discoloring either. Using regulars, some folks have reported some issues, but a good whitening toothpaste takes care of that.
and welcome to the snus fun.
