I have had a burning sensation in my my snus spot for the past couple of days. It appears to be look okay besides being slightly wrinkly. I wonder if lesions are caused by the salt or nicotine?

Hard to tell. I had some irritation when I first began using lös, but only a little bit, and I found that making a bit looser pris helped a lot. Then I *really* got irritated on both sides of my upper gum after doing a can of Grov lös followed by a can of Knox lös(both of which are very coarsely ground). But taking a break from lös for 7-10 days did the trick, and I've never had trouble since. I just make sure at this point not to pack to tightly with the ol' Prismaster, and I try never to use the same side of the lip twice in a row.

I never had any actual open sores, though. Maybe I won't try Offroad again after all.

Shortly after I started using los exclusively, I noticed a small divot in my gum on my primary snusing side (I always used upper right), so I've switched to my upper left side, and aside from some soreness, which I experienced on the right when I started, I haven't had any problems. In fact, I find the pris holds together better on the left, which I found strange. I've also been watching the divot and it seems to be healing, although much slower than I would have expected.

I've noticed that using Tom's of Maine mouthwash helped alleviate my gum irritation. Unlike most mouthwash, Tom's of Main does not contain alcohol, which can actually further complicate gum discomfort. However, this mouthwash contains aloe vera (used to treat sunburn and surface irritation) and other natural additives that help with gum irritation. I would recommend using this product two times daily after brushing teeth. In my opinion, the spearmint flavor tastes amazing!

I've never heard of using Tom's Natural, but also, Biotene PBF is alcohol free and the "PBF" ingredients not only break up plaque, but they encourage enamel growth and gum regeneration. It's a little expensive at 6 bucks a bottle, but it is good stuff, and you can get it at WalMart, which says to me you can find it anywhere.

I've Biotine at the grocery store I work at. I'll have to try out a bottle and see how it compares to Tom's.
Another good treatment for irritated (snuser's) gums is warm salt water. It helps extremely well.

I've been using snus for the last 6 years, always on the same side. If it starts hurting I just try to not use so much until it gets better again or temporarly switch side.

But my best advise would probably be to not sleep with it, I can't even see a point in doing it and the gum really needs the rest it gets during the night.

I use Tom's natural flouride freel toothpaste - very good product: ingredients almost identical to Biotene mouthwash.

What store do you work at? I've never seen Tom's mouthwash.

^^^I work at a Kroger grocery store. I'm sure you can find the mouthwash at a CVS or Walgreen's pharmacy.

                          painful sores on gums

i am trying to quit smoking and used to chew but quit because of the spitting,
i used snus ( camel frost ) for the first time over two days.
i left the snus in for about an hour and a half each time and again in the evening for about an 1/2 hour.
well today i went to put it in and it hurt, ilifted my gums and had 2 boils (very small but painful) one on each side (i switched the snus side each time)
i have ordered roda lacket white portions coming in 2 days
is it the camel brand...me being a newbie or what?
any help would be appreciated...i literally did not want a smoke.
i had a bad reaction to chantix so this may be my last hope
                          thanks

                            Welcome to the forums :^)

I imagine it's just a temporary sensitivity to the tobacco. It seems to have happened quicker to you than others, but it should clear up, and not happen too often. Give those parts of your mouth a rest, and use your lower lip if you have to. Your gums should toughen up and it won't be an issue.

it happened to me very similarly at first, and I was hitting it pretty hard then.

No problems now and I always use the same spot(classic dip spot), you'll adjust.
