    Anyone here had LASIK?

I had LASIK done on Thursday along with the silicone tear plugs. I was just wondering if anyone else here has had it done.

My vision isn't perfect yet it's still slightly blurry but supposedly my eyes are slightly swollen (not visibly, but it's supposedly what is causing my blurriness). So my drop dosage was upped until Monday. I can't wait to be able to see without glasses or contacts! Lol

I snused through the consultation and right up to the surgery and snused through the followup. During the surgery I didn't need too though. That Valium and Tylenol PM did a good job. Haha

    So, what was your experience?

Honestly, i am nervous about it. I don't really want lasers f**king around near my eyes. I personally don't really mind glasses. Only time they are annoying is at work when i start sweating and they start sliding. I just take them off though.

I have never had the several thousand dollars to spare, to be honest. Congrats on the new eyes though.

I'm a young lad, so I have 20/20 vision... for now. I have a strange fear of anything coming into contact with my eyes, so I could never go through a procedure like that.

I could never do it. Even conversations about eyes make mine water like crazy. my wife, however, had this done three years ago. Times were good and we had the cash. She was blind as a bat and literally couldn't read the 2-inch digital clock display three feet away from her. She had the procedure done and slept that day off. The next morning her vision was excellent. It's been perfect since. She said that there was no pain whatsoever, before during or after. Her eyes just felt tired for the day but they advised that she keep them closed as much as possible. The effects were noticed instantaneously and she kept saying that she was utterly amazed. Even with glasses she couldn't see as well as she does now. On the bad side...it got tougher to hide stuff but it's all good.

I know she'd recommend it. Just refrain from watching the YouTube videos. The success rate is nearly flawless so I wouldn't worry about that. My fear would be just someone doing anything to my eyes. That being said, I could NEVER wear contacts. I had to wear glasses in the second grade and those pictures are funny as hell. The seventies and eighties were not exactly fashion forward.

I have a big eye phobia it took me forever to even get contacts in. And I always though my eyes were really hydrated because they would tear up easily especially in the presence of something coming close to then. I found out that that is a sign of dry eyes. Which is why I got the plugs put in.

My vision wasn't terrible but I was near sighted with astigmatism. I wanted to not have to wear glasses or contacts. Contacts are annoying and glasses fog up, scratch, break, loose pieces, etc. So I decides to finally get LASIK.

My vision still isn't perfect, but it is slowly getting better, I think my eyes are still slightly swollen. ::

Congrats on the surgery. I wear glasses usually. I got the acuvue oasys (however you spell it) contacts. I was wearing my contacts every day to work untill I got to the point I didn't care so save the contacts for road, beach, or anywhere I wear my shades alot. That reminds me I need to get some oakleys. Anyways I'd kill not to have to wear glasses or contacts anymore. Keep us updated how it goes considering I don't know anyone who ever had it done.

I had it done 5 years ago - i've been four eyed since i was in the 3rd grade - that only got worse as I got older. I finally bit the bullet and had it done and it was the best thing i've ever done for vision - i wore contacts since high school - they were a PIA - always opping out if i looked quickly a certain way...
i explain it to people this way:
glasses and contacts = standard definition TV
                  lasik = High Definition TV

I can see my alarm clock in the AM Wooo Whooo

I will tell you this though it was also the freakiest 2 minutes of my life going through the procedure - still have 20/20 vision 5 years later and had 20/400 before...

Damn. I wasn't that bad I was like -100-075x090 in one eye and -050-075x090 in the other. (that's the prescription for contacts).

But Nearsightedness with Astigmatism sucks, so I wanted to do something about it.

I'm glad I did. It's slowly getting better but I can already see a little better than I used to be able to, still slightly blurry though. :/

I am farsighted, and really only need a corrective lens on one eye, so having this done would be a luxury, to be sure. I have heard though that it is actually half price to only have one eye fixed.

I had a goldfish a few years back that kept bumping into the glass of his tank. After several trips to the eye doctor he finally recommended that I either get him glasses or lasik. He didn't look very attractive when he was trying out glasses so we opted to the surgery. Hes doing well now but hes somewhat cross-eyed. Oh well at least we tried to give him a better life. Hes really happy tho, all the female goldfish really dig him now. If they only had viagra for fish.............

next he'll want hair replacement I bet.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
