Different...yep, all bad....not really. One good thing is that when the can is full, the "trigger" allows you to get the end of the nozzle in the tank without spilling, especially if you're not using a funnel. Although I did get pissed at the stupid ass switch that you have to toggle before pouring your fuel.
My other cans are normal though, lol

What are you people bitching about?
1. click switch to 'pour' position
2. depress lever
3. pour
This is much easier that the older cans, which involved a process of unscrewing caps and changing tubes and stoppers every time you want to use them. Oh, that's right, I bet you just left the spout in all the time, and are the reason they started requiring people to use these cans. Congratulations.

And why is that. Leaving the spout on does what exactly? Only thing I can think is if your kids decide that gasoline might be a tasty treat. If so your child was bound to get in to something because you are an idiot parent anyway.
Do you not at all get the fact that a gas can is meant to hold gas and pour gas? Fill it, pour it. That requires two things. 1) a gas can 2) a spout.... that is all. If you need 4 step directions or want 4 step directions to a gas can you might just have problems you need to take up with either a pre-school or a psychiatrist.

I don't have a problem with the new design, it's great for lazy people who never put the cap back on the old style cans and it cuts down on spills.

I can only assume that child proofing is always the paramount concern when people are trying to find new ways to store and use hazardous chemicals. The real reason to replace the cap when you are done using the gasoline though is simply to minimize loss of vapor through the open spout, and to prevent oxidation from occurring inside the fuel canister. Basically, the old containers came with a cap and stopper for a reason, and the fact that no one ever used them does not mean that they served no purpose. I also always used to close mine to avoid the inevitable (at least in my world) kicking over of the gas can.
And those were three step directions. What was that you said about preschool?

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but this doesn't warrant me starting a new one, but gotta vent a little.
Sounds like you might have been having one of those days Nonserviam.
This has been one of my more stressful days lately. Started off with wasting time and money dealing with phone issues when anger fixed it all. Threw my phone on the floor of my car a couple times, and it works like a charm again now haha.
About an hour ago i was getting ready to relax for the night and watch a movie in my room. Just as i sit down i hear this god awful, ridiculously loud crash and the sound of broken glass. Scared the piss out of me to be honest, the house was completely quiet until that point. I thought something went through a window because of the sound of the glass. I turn the light on in the hallway and see what happened; the stand/table that my big screen sits on in the living room had shattered. Glass was everywhere, it was like it exploded; some in the hallway and even under the couch. I believe the tv is okay, it appears to be anyway, i'll know for sure when i plug it back in tomorrow. Time for some pictures...
Great day for me today.

I learned all about fighting a ticket as a teenager when I got one for using a container "not authorized" for gas.
I was actually written a ticket for taking a metal gas can (that we had used for years) across the street from my family cottage to fill it up with gas for the boat.
deadohsky,
I think the situation would have scared the pee right out of me. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your TV is okay.

I actually like these spouts...
I have gas cans with and without and these are actually nice.
All you gotta do is put the nozzle in the equipment you are needed to fill, push the button down and there the gas goes, when you're full you just let the button snap back. No spillage.

Like I said, it really is an insignifcant thing, but regardless, it's just another one of those things that eats away at me. Maybe as I become older things like this won't phase me anymore and I'll become a bit more apathetic.
Hey, some of the most successful comedians have made a living venting on stage about meaningless unnecessary bullshit that is occurring in our society. They were successful because their commentary struck a chord. To me, the gas can is just another sign, another brick removed from the foundation of our disconnected society. A society that has become delusional and created an artificial reality (oxymoron?) because we have become too weak to accept the cruelties of the world around us.
Yeah, I know, it's a stretch to segway from enviro-flo gas cans to the collapse of an entire society. But it's just another single paint stroke which comprises a much larger painting.
Like children's playgrounds no longer being made of steel rooted in concrete. Now everything is soft. That's how children learned limitations and consequences. You climb too high and fall to the concrete below, break your arm, you learn not to climb that high again. Children's lunchboxes no longer made of metal because we were afraid they would hit each other with them. We're surrounded by this Tipper Gore like cult. Tipper Gore and the PRMC who thought John Denver's song Rocky Mountain High should require a warning label because it surely referred to drug abuse.
Man, I need a vacation. I think the heat index of 115 degrees, 12 hours work days, and about three hours of sleep a night because my 2 y.o. daughter refuses to sleep is compromising my central nervous system and tolerance level.
