What BP is doing to stop the leak.........

    apparently not much

All this talk about the cleanup efforts and trying to recapture the gushing oil and drilling 2 relief wells. What about stopping the dam leak???

Heres whats they are doing to repair the leak.

sure glad I'm already heavily invested in alternative energy resources.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

The robots are busy. Ocean Intervention ROV 1.

Deepwater Oil Spill - the New BP Plans - and Open Thread

    Here's a snippet...
"The system is being tested today, and if it all works, then by tomorrow (Tuesday the 15th) the oil and gas drawn off from the well, will flow up the 3-inch lines to the Q4000 where the oil will be vaporized and burned with the “Evergreen Burner.” Given that this will burn oil in the range from 5 – 13,000 barrels a day (at $75 a barrel) that is a lot of money (up to $1 million a day) going up in smoke that could have gone to relief – but that is becoming small change. However a single Burner can only burn 3,000 bd, so it would appear that a multiple mount is being built."

yes the robots are busy today as they were the last 2 or 3 days. before then they weren't doing much of anything.

Love the name "evergreen burner". can't wait to see the black clouds hovering over the USA. will they burn clean enough? if not will the black clouds help with global warming? gee next they will be claiming that this oil leak is a "good thing" for our environment............not

This is not going to be good.

Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL): Andrea we’re looking into something new right now, that there’s reports of oil that’s seeping up from the seabed… which would indicate, if that’s true, that the well casing itself is actually pierced… underneath the seabed. So, you know, the problems could be just enormous with what we’re facing.

Andrea Mitchell, MSNBC: Now let me understand better what you’re saying. If that is true that it is coming up form that seabed, even the relief well won’t be the final solution to cap this thing. That means that we’ve got oil gushing up at disparate places along the ocean floor.

Jesus Christ. Where is Al Gore to protest this? (Also, that is the coolest picture i've ever seen)

Man this whole things is a mess. I have been reading things talking about how this small leak could turn into a volcano style outpour if the casing cracks like they think it might, and that would be near impossible to cap at a depth like that. Then there is a hurricane brewing already that threatens to hit the oil spill as well. This is going to be a crazy summer.

the house energy and commerce subcommittee on energy and environment is having a meeting right now [on cspan3] with about 5 different oil company officials. They are being grilled like hamburger on a weber. Lamar Mckay [BP US pres] is sitting there with his tail between his legs with the general look of "duh?" on his face. What a joke. check it out.

All the other oil company officials blame BP for not doing the right thing from the very beginning. Even shutting down the drilling when they had clues that this disaster might happen.

BP calims that they will assume all costs associated with the blow-out and the clean up but won't put the $ in an account. They claim they are paying all "legitimate claims". And will continue to pay out as needed. yea right.

lmao they asked Mckay to resign instead of continueing to say hes sorry. The rep from louisana is oriental and said that in his culture they would give him a knife and ask him to do the right thing and kill himself. Give em hell Mr. Cao

I can see the terrorists now......gee the US is more vunerable than we thought....time to start buying scuba gear, tanks, ect.......and take down the whole country...........

I just heard the ship that was doing most of the containment was struck by lightning and is no longer doing the job. OMG this is just the worst thing ever. This whole thing seems to be the proverbial Perfect storm.

This would be a perfect time for terrorists to somehow ignite all of that oil and cause a big show of force. But really, if the terrorists were actively trying to get us I think they could be doing a better job, it doesn't seem to be a priority for them right now. I mean taking down an oil rig could in theory be relitavely simple, provided you have some funding and some guys willing to dedicate themselves to the cause. A well placed guy with C-4 strapped to his ass could probably stop any operations at a drill site for a while.

                  !!!

I swear between all the major earthquakes recently, this oil spill that seems to be working against hate, and now the revelation from NASA that in 2013 the sun may knock out all the power grids and electronics in britain and elsewhere... I'm starting to wonder about this 2012 stuff lol, it's just getting terrible.
