Support our troops with smokeless tobacco!

As many of you know from reading the boards, Mike aka Monkey started a nasal snuff box pass, the contents of which I mailed to PFC Nick Twombley in Iraq. His mom contacted someone here on snuffhouse (I think), asking about where to get snuff for her son, and the Nasal Snuff Only box pass was born. Many of us included snus in the box, and I think it was a great thing that we shipped off a bunch of smokeless tobacco for our troops and countrymen and women to enjoy while they are enduring the hardships of war.

I have read a couple posts lately, the latest from sgreger, about people throwing their mystery cans in the trash. I myself have similarly disposed of some Wintergreen at least once. It's a shame to toss perfectly good snus when there are so many people out there who would love to have it. It would be a great pleasure to mail flat-rate boxes of unwanted snus and snuff to our troops so that they may pass the time and ease the stress this Summer with some smokeless tobacco enjoyment. For anyone who agrees with these sentiments, feel free to mail me any unwanted snus, snuff samples, or your favorite snus that you feel compelled to share with our troops. No, I will not use it lol, and I work a block away from a post office so it will be very easy for me to get this stuff in the mail. We can do this as often as you all continue to keep a steady flow of donations rolling in. Please send only unopened donations to the following address:

I can start by sending another box to PFC Nick Twombly and asking him to distribute it. Alternately, if any of you have a friend or relative to whom you would like these donations to go, feel free to provide me with that information. One of my best friends gets home from Afghanistan today, so I will be asking him for one of his buddy's names and address to distribute some to Afghanistan as well, provided that some of you are interested in this endeavor. I can update this thread when shipments go out with lists of the contents and who donated so we can all see how awesome we are, and exactly how much enjoyment we are providing to those who deserve it most. What do you all think? Thanks, Roo

I support this 100%. I have a whole box of those general sampler things, literally like 50 of them. If I can find it i'll hook them up, i'll even send some beenies and shit with it. Sadly I threw away most of my excess crappy free snus or it's dry at this point. I'll have to check out what i've got and i'll send anything your way.

EDIT: Thanks for your home address, and pay no mind to the wires and white powder residue on the package I send you. It's to maintain freshness.

Great idea Roo. Thanks for making sure that boxpass actually got mailed. I unloaded alot of snus and snuff in that box and was concerned that it might not make it overseas.....untill I looked on the list and saw that you were the next person to sent it to and also the last person. I have no question of your integrety my friend. You will get my crappys tobacco products....to be sure.

@ EVERYBODY!!! If you send Roo some tobacco please consider throwing a few dollars in with it to help pay for shipping. Otherwise Roo will always end up footing the postage costs. Its the least we can do for our troops.

I'm down for this. I served in the Navy for many years and always loved getting shit from home! Snus coming your way, and a few dollars for the postage! This is a fantastic idea.

This is great! Thanks for the replies and for being down for the cause. I was worried for a minute there that my post would go ignored save for sgreger1. And thanks for your vote of confidence PP. I understand that the only assurance you all have is just my word, but I hope people will trust that there is no cause for concern that I wouldn't end up shipping any donations that I receive. Some snus-mailing arrangments have been known to fall through or be forgotten about, but this is not one of them. It really was quite cool to ship all of the boxpass contributions off to Iraq, and I want to do it again. It's an excellent use for all of the snus that is one man's trash yet another's treasure. And don't be shy about throwing in 1 or 2 good ones either; I put some Skruf ES los and my beloved Odens into the Iraq box, and it feels good to know you are potentially turning a soldier onto something that you yourself are really excited about. One of those guys is going to fill his lower lip with a huge wad of Skruf ES los and puke haha that treats me right.

As for shipping cost donations, by all means do what you see fit or feel good about, but it's not necessary. I don't mind paying $11-$12 to send something that at the very least will pique some curiosity and relieve nic fits and stress in times of need, and could potentially get a few people to reconsider smoking or dipping entirely. The flat-rate boxes are great -- we can probably fit 50 cans or so into a $12 box, if not more, and the price is reasonable for what we are doing. Thanks again guys!! I'll let everyone know when the first snus is received, how quickly donations are coming in, and the timeline for the first shipment. Please do PM me any names/addresses of any servicemen/-women who would like to receive such a thing if you have anyone in mind. I don't have PFC Nick's address anymore actually, but I bet Mike still does. I'm thinking it would be nice to spread the wealth a little though -- he's about to receive a generously-packed box already pretty soon (I assume it takes a few weeks).

I'm picking my good buddy up at the airport tonight. He is returning from Afghanistan to the best welcome-home gift ever: his 48-hour-old son. I'll tell him about my intentions and get a name of some fellas who will love to receive our donations. Keep me posted and I'll do the same! ~Roo

Great idea, Roo. I've only got one to donate at present, but once I get several unwanted and unopened cans, I'll mail them to you. Thanks for volunteering to coordinate this.
