I just got back from the post office, I had to pick up Mike aka Monkey's package and sign for it. It was HEAVY. What a pleasure and a great surprise it was to open his box and find 1.5 rolls of Taboca Strong minis, 8-10 cans or Röda Lacket lös, 2 Offroad Wintergreen Longcut cans and a bunch of General Mint samples. You guys have absolutely blown me away, I mean really, I just can't believe it. I have forty seven cans of donation snus from three people. This is truly amazing what you guys are doing!
So this is the plan. I wish I had thought it out before going to the post office just now, but whatever. Monday I go to work and buy a large flat-rate box and bring it home. I will take and post pictures. I will tightly and securely pack up all of these beautiful cans of snus, top off the box with however much will fit from my stash, and get the first donation sent off on Tuesday. Mike, Bigblue1, and Mr. Snuffleupagus: You guys are amazing and generous people, and your donations humble me and also prove what I have known all along and argued with many: ALTRUISM IS REAL! There is such a thing as a true gift, without the expectation of anything in return, including recognition. (If anyone wishes to argue that point, please let's do it in another thread!)
This forum is the shit. I love you guys and can't believe how awesome you are. ~ Roo
Edit: oh yeah all donations are coolin' out in my fridge before the long journey to Afghanistan. Think I should double box it like I did with the Iraq box pass? I think I will.

Well fellas, we managed to get 7 pounds of snus together between five people, myself included. Believe it or not, but I didn't do a final count. It was something like 55 cans, at least 20 General samples, 4 prismasters, 2 snuff samples, a big can of snuff, and a bullet. I took a final pic before bed last night which I will post later this evening. Thanks again Mike, Bigblue1, Mr. Sneffleupagus, and rickcharles606! You guys are amazing. Here is the letter I enclosed before mailing it today:
Dear Colonel Ramsey,
My name is Jered [removed], age 31 from Seattle, Washington. I am a member of an internet forum devoted to the appreciation of Swedish snus smokeless tobacco by the name of snuson.com. I decided to start a donation for US troops in Afghanistan and Iraq in which a handful of very generous forum members have sent Swedish snus to me in Seattle, and I am passing it on to a member of our armed forces to be redistributed among our country’s finest men and women in uniform. You are the first recipient of this humble endeavor.
I received your name and contact information from my good friend, [name removed], a civilian contractor who has made your acquaintance through his work with ISAF. I understand that you are at least somewhat familiar with Swedish snus and likely to appreciate this gesture, as well as a benevolent man of authority who is likely to share this token of our appreciation.
You will find that this package is double-boxed. On the inner box containing the snus, I wrote in big letters the phrase “snus attack”. Realizing that perhaps “attack” was a poor choice of words for a package being received by a colonel in Afghanistan, my girlfriend decided it was best to apply rainbow coloring to the lettering. Please forgive the silliness of this décor and understand that it is with all seriousness and good intent that we provide smokeless tobacco for your enjoyment.
If your familiarity with Swedish snus is limited, please allow me a moment to offer a bit of insight. The snus contained herein comes in three formats: Regular portion snus, white portion snus, and loose snus (those last two words rhyme, by the way). Spitting, as with dip, is not necessary. The portion format allows for a great deal of convenience and discretion. The loose format can be difficult to get the hang of, so we have included several unused “prismasters”, or portion devices (the Swedes call a wad of loose snus a “pris”, hence the name). To use this device, simply stab the correct end (you’ll figure that out I’m sure) into the loose snus, and use the thumb plunger to compress it, and then use the device itself to insert it under the lip. Swedish snus is traditionally used under the upper lip, but use it however you like of course, there is no wrong way to enjoy it. Snus is steam-cured instead of fermented over fire, resulting in far lower tobacco-specific nitrosamines, the cause of cancer in smokers and dippers. It has been proven to be a significantly safer alternative to more common forms of tobacco. Lastly, it is best kept in a refrigerator, especially the loose snus, but of course when the situation does not permit cold storage, the tobacco will be just fine. Forgive me if none of the above was news to you.
Finally, we at snuson.com are so enthusiastic about this product because it has vastly improved our lives and our health by making it very easy to and enjoyable to quit smoking or dipping. Convincing anyone else to do the same, however, is not our intent by sending this package; we simply hope that you enjoy this good tobacco. Thank you for the tremendous efforts and sacrifice you and the rest of your constituents are putting forth on an hourly basis for the interests of the United States.
Kind Regards,
Jered [removed]

There will be more donations to come, so I hope you're finding other military personnel to send them to. I've got about 4 or 5 cans set aside, but I'm waiting until I have about 15-20 before I send them your way. My snus stash is still pretty modest, but it's growing.

Thanks PipenSnus! There are a few others in a similar situation, so no rush, no worries. And if later you decide you can't or don't want to, no hard feelings. I do have another guy on deck in Afghanistan, a pfc in the southeast near the Pakistani border. After that I will be looking for Iraq suggestions.

Thank you Mike! 5 cans or General Los showed up in my mailbox yesterday from an address I recongnized in Tampa. Mike aka Monkey is at it again. We are 8 cans into the second donation. Thank you all for your wonderful generosity! I still need to post some more pics of the box that went out Tuesday. I get lazy with that kind of thing, but I should have plenty of time and energy this weekend. Thanks Mike, Roo
