i prefer whisky over all other forms of liquor, though my preference is definitely good scotch such as talisker, oban, some cragganmore now and then

though, i'm unemployed currently so i just don't drink at all

bourbons i like would be woodford reserve and knob creek

Was there really a shortage of Knob Creek?

Regardless, I had a thing for Wild Turkey Rare Breed for a while. Then it started giving me headaches. Too many tannins I think.

As long as I change it up I seem to be alright hangover wise. It seems when I dwell too long on one brand I over do it and either have hangovers or oversleep the next day.

I noticed a bar I was stopping at after my golf league this summer was serving Ancient Age bourbon. It's bottom shelf, but tastes great in a mixed drink.

I bought a bottle today and will see if it tastes as good at home. I'll be buying some bagged ice tomorrow. That always makes my drinks taste better at home.

          BAGGED ICE FTW!!

It's all about the holes! Lol. Seriously though.

Rare Breed eh? I'll have to look into that. As mentioned in the alcohol thread, I've been on a Wild Turkey kick lately. But only because it's 100 proof, and I grab a few toy soldiers when I pass the liquor store -- never a whole bottle. It may sound alcoholic-ish, but the reason for that is damage control. I will drink too much if I have too much on hand. So its not the taste of the Turkey but the bang for my buck. I'm curious about this Rare Breed you speak of.

Staying true to my heritage I prefer Irish whiskeys, love scotch too, and dig the bourbon more and more lately but never go for JD or Beam unless I'm not buying. What do you mix bourbon with baker? Or do you? I usually go neat or on the rocks with bourbon, scotch (dash of water), and whiskey. Blends like Crown are good with 7UP or maybe ginger ale. I can dig scotch and club soda too if the scotch is average like Dewers or J&B. Yay for booze + snus.

Off topic: who lives in a state where you can still smoke in bars?

Kentucky beats Scotch in World Top 10... India joins...

It was the liquor loved by thirsty cowboys and was immortalised by the Hollywood legend Humphrey Bogart in The Big Sleep. But Prohibition nearly killed off the taste of the frontier when America turned to the milder demands of bourbon.

Now, rye is back, and has punched Scotch straight through the saloon bar doors to be named the world's top-rated whiskey. The 2010 edition of the Whisky Bible, Britain's biggest selling whisky book, has named 18-year-old Sazerac Rye from Kentucky as the finest dram available to mankind.

Also a big scotch, whiskey, and bourbon fan. I alternate between Glenlivit and Jack Daniels (my two favorites depending on my day) with some Dewars popping in every once in a while.

I do them neat with a coke back.

And they now sponsor my favorite NASCAR driver, and his flame-proof suit!

Still can't stand to drink the stuff though...

Hmmm, maybe a snus brand could sponser a driver?

I generally only mix my bourbon with ice. Occasionally I'll toss in a splash of cola.

Wild Turkey, neat. My drink of choice since I was a toddler!

Very nice! I love JD Single Barrel, but Gentleman Jack just doesn't do it for me. The filtering after aging takes too much away.

Hmm,... Maybe I'll post a picture of my stash. I'll see if I get motivated enough to gather them all up.
