BuLLitz, yep, there was. i used to say a prayer every nite, not to ask for stuff but to just let god know i'm hanging around. i hadn't prayed in a while and the nite before my birthday i shot god a prayer. when i was walking to the couch the next morning to roll a cig that "thought" or whatever it was happened. not to sound too weird on this, but it wasn't from me. and when it happened i just had to roll with it. it's like i was told to do it. strange, but true...

Congratulations zman, that is really an inspiring story. Isn't it amazing how easy snus makes it to drastically improve your health and your life? (and bank account) I still can't believe it. I'm only 30 and I used to wheeze sometimes when I laid down. It scared me, especially being pretty young. Since I stopped smoking I've been running 4-5 times a week and lost 20 lbs (would be more but the volume of beer I drink, while not nearly as high as you  , is keeping the beer-gut firmly in place). I could have never improved my health like that as a smoker, and I love not wheezing, stinking, (remember how awful it was smoke in a cotton sweatshirt in the rain??) and making late-night runs to the cig store to spend $7 because the thought of waking up with no cigs would make me damn-near panic. Snus for the win.

That was a kickass story zman! I wished I listened to that voice more often. With me it usually gets to the point of "hey dumbass, I'm talking to you!" before I listen! Take snus for example. I saw an ad for Camel snus that said Sold Cold, and thought "oh boy, another silly ploy to sell more dip". After a few weeks every time I turned around I was seeing Camel ads and getting coupons in the mail. Finally curiosity got the better of me, and I picked up a can. I found out that it was an American version of a Swedish product and hit google.

I had been looking for a way to get off the cigs for at least 2 years. Gum, patches, homeopathic remedies, nothing worked! I started snusing to cut back on smoking, but after 2 weeks just didn't have the desire to smoke anymore. After 2 months smoke free, I can't make myself believe all those Camel ads were just a coincidence!! 8)

Cigs have a built in method [some say therapy] to get you to quit smokin em. If you smoke enuff cigs you will simply die. Its called Death Therapy and it works everytime.

I was working on a project near DFW. During my stay in Dallas I was staying at the Westin. There wasn't much around the hotel except for a Denny's and a Mini-mart/Gas Station. I walked to the mini-mart to get a pack of smokes. While waiting in line, I looked at the cigarettes behind the counter to see if they had my brand.

I saw a display for Marlboro SNUS.

I asked the clerk, "What the hell are those"? He said, "Smokeless and spitless tobacco"?

Um... excuse me? What did he say? Smokeless AND spitless? I'll be damned.

I thought, these would be perfect for the flight home so I snagged a couple packs of each flavor. Why not? They were only 99 cents.

I actually liked them enough that I would be willing to substitute my smoking habit with them.

On travel day, as I was running through the airport, I happened to lose all of my unopened SNUS (from my jacket) except for the 1 pack I had in my front pocket.

The next morning, I did a search on the internet for Marlboro SNUS and found that Dallas was a test market.

                        DAMMIT

But then I started reading more and found many articles about swedish snus.
                        The rest is history.

I had one of those "click" experiences about 5 years ago. Felt like I was totally alone in the world. Then I found out there were other people like me going through the exact same things. Life has been awesome ever since.
