She is. Really one of the toughest SOB's I ever met.

Roller Derby is awesome. It has been hard for me. I was involved the first 4 years, even after Laura left. One of my best friends on Deby divorced her husband, but he remained around, still coached her team in fact. So I tried to do the same. But hard. Despite how hard Laura worked to make sure folks knew this wasn't an ugly affair, many of her friends still took it upon themselves to treat me badly. I persevered, but finally retired myself a year ago.

But we are hosting one of the regional events for the National Championship, and got an e-mail a few days ago asking for volunteers. So I threw my name in. Laura has retired from the board and is much less involved these days, so wonder if the volunteer coordinator will follow-up with me or not.

But yeah, bloody hard situation to deal through. And honestly blame the aftermath for much of went wrong with Laura and me. before all this, were were great together for 15 years. But in her disappointment at not being able to skate any more, Laura really did undergo some significant changes. And I was one of them...her mid life crisis divorce. She was turning 40 and not dealing well, now she has a boyfriend who is 9 years younger than her, guess that makes her happy now.

        btw, my ex....

Yeah, a real beauty. (She was 38 when this picture was taken) Gonna be kind of hard to top that one. He current boy-toy, btw, looks almost exactly like I looked 13 years ago. That is always a little scary to me.

Just gotta love the turns this thread has made.

Damn! I'm sorry things went so badly for you guys. She's gorgeous. Maybe things will go full circle, and you guys can at least be friends again. It had to be a huge blow to her mental state to have to quit something that she loved, and had invested so much of her life in!

As for the busybodies, shame on them!! Why can't people just stay out of other's affairs? But with any break up there's always the side taking.

Overall, Laura and I managed the breakup well. Technically, I still work part time for her, still doing my weekend gig at her parents shop. But I never have to see her, and we do most business through MySpace.

We are friendly, but not really friends anymore. Her decision. I just do and and deal with her in ways I know she wants.

But I was with her for 18 years. Just gonna take a real long time for me to completely recover. But life goes on and I remain hopeful I will find real happiness again. For now, I survive, and I am REALLY good at that.

I am very sad that the Mama is feelin' bad. But I got my pain meds, so I feel quite dandy!

:? I'm feeling slightly better. Yesterday was CRAP! On top of feeling like a big pile of horse shit, I had to be at work at 5 am and was out in the wonderfully muggy heat for damn near 12 hours. It was around 88 F and on and off thunder/showers. About 80% humidity. I did get to do some awesome shooting and play with my guns for a good while! Annual "tactical course" is always a blast. (9mm and an AR 15)

By around noon I started getting tired and overheated and got a migraine! Yummy feeling while listening to others shooting! By the time I got home at around 4:30 my head was splitting and I was nauseous. Badfish took care of me and let me sleep (medicinally induced).

I feel better but now am sore and have to return to work again tonight for my normal shift.

Thanks for the well wishes though! You guys are great!
