LMAO, yeah I cannot stand Al Gore and the fact that Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Prize is just sickening. Talk about lowered expectations..lol

Camel Wides have gone to 4.99/pack here, and going up another dollar per pack tomorrow. So $60-$70 bucks a carton sounds about right. Hell if Ken****y can do it, why not North Cackalacki?

I'll check tomorrow morning and see what they are at. I haven't bought any in so long I only knew that they went up from looking at the advertising.

Cigarettes have been going up in Ohio as well. Here's a price list of some brands I've noticed:

        Marlboro: $5.18/pack
        Camel: $4.89/pack
Pall Mall (filtered): $4.03/pack (was $3.00 last month)
American Spirit: $7.98 (was $5.50 a few months ago)

On April 1st, all the packs will go up another dollar. At least smokeless tobacco isn't increasing that much.

I think some of you are confused, R.J. Reynolds and Philip Morris raised prices in advance of the tax increase. There aren't two major price increases, only one.

The same way the gas stations raise their gasoline prices when the price of crude goes up. They don't wait until the more expensive gasoline shows up before raising prices.

It's part of retail, you have an investment in inventory. If it costs more to replace your inventory then what you are selling your current product for then you lose money. The only way to stay ahead and maintain the same inventory level is to raise prices before it comes time to replace the inventory.

SCHIP raised taxes on a carton of cigarettes by $6.10
Malboro Reds went up $8.00 a carton here in Florida

If your cigarette prices went up by $15.00/$20.00 (or more) a carton, it's the retailer, wholesaler, cigarette manufacturer, that's ripping you off.
(Stop blaming the government for everything)
There's plenty of blame to go around.

          FYI
"TOP COMBINED STATE-LOCAL CIGARETTE TAX RATES"
          "(State plus County plus City)"

          http://tobaccofreekids.org/research/...s/pdf/0267.pdf

and the date on that doc is February 17, 2009

Also a lot of places raised the price early to cover the Floor Tax. Not only does the gov get taxes when you buy it, but they are getting all those taxes from the distributors. Effectively they are taxing existing product twice. I don't blame the prices being higher on greed. I blame it on not wanting to wipe out a bunch of capital paying taxes which are due today.

When I stopped by Circle K on the way in to work I saw that Camels are $6.25 a pack here in AZ. Add in the 8.3% sales tax (that also counts the taxes for some asinine reason) and you got $6.77 a pack. That is pretty close to $70 a carton.

It's not just the liberals. The conservatives are exactly the same. They are all in cahoots, and the money takers make policy. We need to wake the **** up. We are all slaves to the Fed, and our children are born into a debt to the Federal Reserve. WE ARE ALL COLLATERAL TO THE FED.

THROW THE MONEY CHANGERS OUT OF THE TEMPLE!!!!!!!!!

                        Great quote:

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

                        From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
                        From courage to liberty
                        From liberty to abundance
                        From abundance to selfishness
                        From selfishness to complacency
                        From complacency to apathy
                        From apathy to dependency
                        From dependency back to bondage.

1695-1735: Bondage to Spiritual Faith [Roughly, from the time of the Salem Witch Trials to Jonathan Edward's Great Awakening].
1735-1775: Spiritual Faith to Great Courage [The Great Awakening to the Battle of Lexington, which began the American Revolution].

1775-1815: Great Courage to Liberty [The onset of the American Revolution to the Battle of New Orleans, which ended the War of 1812].

1815-1855: Liberty to Abundance [The so-called "Era of Good Feelings" to the emerging sectionalist crisis between the industrial North and slaveholding South].

1855-1895: Abundance to Selfishness [From Sectionalism to Imperialism].

1895-1935: Selfishness to Complacency [Imperialism to prolonged Total Warfare and Economic Depression].

1935-1975: Complacency to Apathy [World War II to the Nixon-Ford-Carter Malaise].

1975-2015: Apathy to Dependence [The National Malaise to Economic Ruin brought on by the Bush regime].

2015-2055: Dependence to Bondage [Economic Ruin to Wage Slavery in the hands of multinational corporations].

Based on this model, I estimate that our present way of life has less than a decade left of existence. I can only hope that I'm wrong.

You're a smart dude. It is not just this or that group, it's the system as it is almost a requirement for being a high-level part of the system. Money changers have always been the biggest part of the problem. If you don't believe the role of money chagers, you owe it to yourself to read the "history of the money changers" by Andrew Hitchcock. He examines the issue starting in 48 B.C. until today.

And I have a feeling you are just kidding. Henry Ford discussed that subject in length, also a must read.

Nope. My wife is a Polish Jew.

She's always cheating me on sex and dinner...

                                I see your point.
